About The Position

Ohio Valley Goodwill Industries is seeking reliable individuals to join their contracts' warehouse operations. The Material Handler will perform various tasks including assembling, sorting, packaging, and moving raw materials and finished products through the assembly process while meeting quality standards. This role is crucial for the movement, storage, and management of materials and products within the Industrial Services Department, involving loading/unloading, inventory tracking, operating pallet jacks, and ensuring quality standards are met efficiently. Materials are moved by hand or using manual and electric pallet jacks, and separate counts of products may be required. Quality control and inspection are also key aspects of this position.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience in a warehouse, industrial work, or material handling role preferred.
  • Ability to operate pallet jacks or other material handling equipment.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy materials (up to 50 lbs.) frequently.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to work in a physically demanding and fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor Quality Control, including inspecting incoming materials and ensuring finished products meet contract requirements.
  • Escalate issues with abnormal defects and assist in implementing corrective actions.
  • Perform contract work by completing agreed-upon tasks and deliverables.
  • Load, unload, move, and stack materials using manual methods or powered equipment like pallet jacks.
  • Set up daily workstations and monitor quality control.
  • Receive incoming materials and verify accuracy.
  • Ensure materials are stored properly to prevent damage or loss.
  • Package materials for shipping.
  • Maintain accurate records.
  • Follow all safety protocols and company procedures for material handling and storage.
  • Perform regular inventory counts and assist with cycle counts.
  • Communicate with supervisors and warehouse staff to ensure smooth operations.
  • Keep work areas clean and organized.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
