About The Position

The Material Handler is an integral member of the production team, responsible for staging and managing materials used in the manufacturing process. This position requires strict adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), food safety protocols (SQF, HACCP, etc.) and a strong focus on organization, accuracy, and safety. The Material Handler will work closely with Production, Quality Assurance, and Warehouse teams to ensure smooth operations and timely delivery of packaging and ingredient materials. The position is managed and directly reports to the Production Supervisor of the Company.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); additional training or certification in logistics, warehouse management, or supply chain is a plus
  • Prior experience in manufacturing or warehouse environment preferred.
  • Familiarity with safety, sanitation, and quality protocols in food production
  • Proficient in basic computer use and handheld scanning devices
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Ability to operate forklift, hand truck, pallet jack, and other warehouse equipment.
  • Proficient in using warehouse management systems; experience with SAP Business One, or similar ERP system, strongly preferred.
  • Skilled in the use of handheld scanners and other warehouse technology.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
  • Must pass a company pre-employment background, physical, and drug screen prior to commencing work.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately stage and deliver materials to production areas using handheld scanners and inventory systems.
  • Verify label and packaging information against printed documentation to ensure accuracy.
  • Remove and return unused materials to designated areas, including hold or disposal zones.
  • Support waste reduction by properly disposing of corrugate, plastics, and other materials.
  • Prepare materials and ingredients for upcoming production runs and label/stage accordingly.
  • Collaborate with the Logistics Director to ensure adequate inventory levels and maintain inventory accuracy.
  • Maintain clean, organized material storage and staging areas through sweeping, mopping, and general housekeeping.
  • Accurately complete and submit documentation related to materials handling and line clearance.
  • Perform any other tasks assigned by the Production Supervisor.
