311 - Material Handler

About The Position

This role involves a combination of delivery driving, general labor, and warehouse operations. The Material Handler will be responsible for delivering products to local customers and between company locations using a ½ ton truck and a 24ft flat deck trailer. Additionally, the position requires preparing shipments, receiving and unloading materials, managing inventory, and ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.

Requirements

• Ability to read and follow written directions and understand basic shop drawings
• Knowledge of measuring tools such as tape measure, ruler, square, compass
• Able to use tools and machines with an attention to detail
• Able to understand and follow safety procedures
• Must have dexterity and able to lift heavy objects
• Good understanding of math and quality control principles
• Must have outstanding punctuality and attendance
• Ability to work according to production schedules and deadlines
• Must possess strong problem solving and communication skills as well as the ability to handle changing demands
• Valid Class 5 Drivers Licence
• Experience pulling a 24ft flat deck trailer.

Responsibilities

• Delivery driver – to local customers and between both shop locations, driving a ½ ton truck pulling a 24ft flat deck trailer
• General Labour as needed
• Prepares shipments for conveyance by packing items to ensure safe delivery.
• Checks items to be shipped against work orders to ascertain appropriate quantities, destination, and routing are correct.
• Receives and unloads incoming materials and compares information on packing slip to purchase order to verify accuracy of shipment
• Inspects shipments for damages and or defects and notifies purchasing personnel
• Sorts, counts, packages, labels, unpacks, and logs inventory
• May operate dolly, pallet jack, and forklift in loading and unloading supplies and equipment. May operate shrink-wrap machine
• Follows established policies and procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety and environmental standards
