About The Position

The Material Handler transports finished goods and scrap pipe from the production area to designated storage areas. They also assist the production team with preparing pipe for shipping by creating crate frames and strapping bundles according to transportation requirements. This role is integral to the operation of equipment and the creation of quality conduit products that serve various industries. Requirements

  • Need experience loading and unloading materials from tractor trailers using appropriate forklift/equipment/tools.
  • Solid math skills to ensure accurate quantity and weight of product in stock and when loading product orders onto tractor trailers.
  • Ability to handle materials and equipment in a safe and responsible manner.
  • Ability to assess products for Quality Compliance.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to learn, apply and demonstrate Standard Operating Procedures required for position.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Good verbal, math, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to adhere to company policies, rules, and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Good working knowledge of computers.
  • Ability to safely operate Forklift and able to obtain and maintain Forklift License.
  • Must be able to read, speak and understand verbal and written direction in English for the safe and effective performance of the job.
  • Must wear and maintain in good condition Required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Ability to regularly stand, walk, bend, kneel, reach, and lift or push weights up to fifty (50) pounds for prolonged periods of time during assigned work shift.
  • Manual dexterity as needed to operate machinery and equipment and complete assigned tasks.
  • Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions, moving mechanical parts and vibrations and tolerate exposure to typical noises associated with plant operations.
  • High School and/or GED required.
  • Forklift Operator.

Responsibilities

  • Load and unload materials from tractor trailers using appropriate forklift/equipment/tools.
  • Ensure bracing and/or strapping on material is correctly used to prevent shifting or damage to items being transported.
  • Conduct visual inspection of all crates of pipe and sweep stock.
  • Verify accuracy of quantity and quality.
  • Issue correct product tickets, weight and stapling of bands.
  • Verify and process all documents relating to shipping of product and record required information.
  • Properly tag or label material for shipment.
  • Enter material/product information into stock using computer.
  • Stack material as required and/or directed to correct and established location.
  • Adhere to required Standard Operating Procedures of the position.
  • Attend all required training, including operations, safety, completion of Forklift Inspections and all other requirements as assigned and directed.
  • Consistently perform work in a safe and efficient manner with relation to machinery and co-workers at all times.
  • Adhere to and follow all safety rules and safe work methods.
  • Maintain a clean, orderly area and return supplies and equipment to assigned locations.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by Supervisor.
