About The Position

This position is for a Material Handler in a bottle manufacturing plant. The role involves working in a high-speed equipment environment with moderate to high noise levels. It requires a high level of communication with peers and supervisors, covering moderate to large floor areas with high-paced activity. The job operates on a 12-hour shift and demands a high level of mental and visual alertness. The Material Handler is responsible for various production, safety, and inventory tasks within the warehouse department.

Responsibilities

  • Follow and enforce Silgan Safety, Quality and GMP policies.
  • Take care of all products from Scat Systems (SBM, IBM, and Deco Departments).
  • Transfer rework items to the line for inspector packers to sort and repack.
  • Ensure the end of Scat systems are positioned correctly for fire doors to close.
  • Transfer partial skids back to the floor to complete orders that were stopped.
  • Perform product reversal on partial skids to add the remaining amount needed for a full skid.
  • Transfer product to grind if unable to be reworked and verify all NCR paperwork.
  • Print carton and unit labels as needed.
  • Check and verify four-hour production reports and sign them.
  • Verify order completion in Oracle to ensure no remaining quantities on the line.
  • Relieve packers for breaks when needed.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of NCR procedures.
  • Enforce safety policies and report safety violations.
  • Know and apply written safety procedures.
  • Inspect work areas for unsafe acts or situations.
  • Participate in reporting and investigating accidents and near misses.
  • Enforce safety rules.
  • Maintain clean work areas and additional manufacturing equipment.
  • Perform cycle counts for various inventory items including supplies, Gaylord's, finished product, WIP bottles, and supplies in racks.
  • Count finished or WIP products by number of skids, cartons, and pieces per carton, and calculate the total amount of product for the FWO number.
  • Count all inventory items by each or pounds and ensure lot control if designated.
  • Clear cobwebs from the ceiling using a Genie Boom or Scissor lift.
  • Wrap shrink wrap around reused regrind, hopper drains, or partial virgin material Gaylord’s.
  • Keep quarantine rows clear for product rework.
  • Watch for safety hazards in the pathway of Tow Motor Traffic.
  • At the end of the shift, print out a new Spot Sheet for the next shift, detailing production order locations.
  • Sign a walk around sheet to verify to the next shift that the warehouse is in order.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
