About The Position

This role involves a variety of tasks related to the efficient movement, storage, and tracking of materials within the manufacturing facility. The Material Handler is responsible for loading and unloading shipments, ensuring materials are accurately mixed, dried, and brought to the machines to meet customer schedules. They will also assist setup technicians in preparing workstations and molds for production presses, maintain a clean and safe work environment, and handle material handling equipment, conveyors, and drying equipment. Inventory control is managed using a First In First Out method with traceability maintained. The position also includes mixing, batching, and blending materials for production, critical verification of weights, accurate marking of containers, checking and adjusting dryer settings, acting as a relief operator, checking part color, creating MRO work orders, inspecting parts for defects, operating and maintaining injection molding machines, identifying and reporting unsafe equipment, cleaning hoppers, and documenting production and inspection results.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Possession of basic math knowledge
  • Problem solving skills for (assisting in) manufacturing issues
  • Self-starter with a can-do attitude; always working in the best interest of CCM
  • Must work well with minimal supervision independently to complete tasks as well as working as an active team member
  • Ability to comply with instructions, prescribed routines, methods and/or practices
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task
  • Ability to analyze and reconcile issues
  • Ability to effectively communicate with others

Responsibilities

  • Loading and unloading shipments
  • Ensuring materials are accurately mixed, dried, and brought to the machines to meet customer schedules
  • Setting up workstations and molds
  • Assisting setup technicians in preparing workstations and molds for production presses
  • Maintaining safety and good housekeeping
  • Ensuring a clean and safe work environment
  • Material handling: Clean and maintain material handling equipment, conveyors and drying equipment
  • Inventory control of all materials in a First In First Out method with Traceability maintained
  • Mixes, batches, and/or blends material for production
  • Responsible for weighing and mixing color concentrates with raw material to meet the job requirements
  • Critical verification of weights before and after each production run to ensure accurate inventory movement, including update of IQMS system for quantities consumed
  • Ensures all hoppers, Gaylords, boxes, and other containers are marked accurately with material identification and quantity along with date as necessary
  • Check dryer settings against the approved setup sheet attached to the manufacturing plan
  • Troubleshoot and adjust dryers as required to produce parts in accordance with the work instructions and manufacturing plan in a safe manner
  • Act as a relief operator for breaks or as needed
  • Check color of parts using colorimeter or color chip before releasing parts as production ready
  • Create MRO work orders for any materials equipment maintenance
  • Quality control: Inspecting produced parts for defects and ensuring compliance with quality standards
  • Machine operation: Operating and maintaining injection molding machines and automation systems
  • Identify any unsafe condition(s) of machine and/or support equipment and notify maintenance or your supervisor immediately
  • Stop unsafe equipment from operation and lock out from power source
  • Cleaning and loading all hoppers as required
  • Recordkeeping: Documenting production and inspection results accurately and in a timely manner
  • Safety compliance: Adhering to all safety procedures and regulations within the plant
