About The Position

This position is for a Material Handler in the Solder Department on the 1st shift (6:00 am - 2:30 pm). The role involves providing machine operators with necessary products and materials to perform their jobs and moving finished product to the belt for final inspection. It is a very fast-paced environment requiring heavy lifting.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED).
  • 6 plus months of experience in a production environment.
  • Organized - Possessing the trait of being organized or following a systematic method of performing a task.
  • Safety Awareness - Ability to identify and correct conditions that affect employee safety.
  • Accuracy - Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly.
  • Communication, Oral - Ability to communicate effectively with others using the spoken word.
  • Detail Oriented - Ability to pay attention to the minute details of a project or task.
  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) - Safety Glasses and Hearing Protection.

Responsibilities

  • Read work orders to determine work assignments for machine operators and material needs.
  • Visually compare current applicators to new applicators as each box is opened for machine operators, matching measured size to the size on the label.
  • Ensure each machine operator is stocked with product and replenish product as needed, ensuring each machine has 8 empty cartons, 12 cartons of caps, and enough applicators to run for the shift.
  • Attach identifying labels to boxes, verifying product information from the work order to the label, and signing labels after the product box is full and ready to be taped shut.
  • Move materials to and from department and production areas using hand trucks.
  • Place boxes of caps onto a lift, raise the lift, and tilt product into hoppers, then lower the lift.
  • Place boxes of brushes or daubers on the table by each machine for operators, verifying the correct product with a ruler and comparing it to previous product before mixing.
  • Perform quality checks as required, looking closely at the cap, dauber or brush, liner, and solder.
  • Stack boxes of finished product on a handcart (3 high) and move product over to the belt using a lift assist to place boxes onto the belt.
  • Clear jams for machine operators when required and only if properly trained to do so; notify mechanics of issues not trained for.
  • Maintain storage areas to ensure department cleanliness, sweeping floors periodically.
  • Empty scrap bins when needed.
  • Make boxes for finished product for operators and lining machine(s).
  • Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
