About The Position

The Material Handler is responsible for ensuring the safety and quality of operations, adhering to environmental policies, and maintaining product safety and quality standards. This role involves managing inventory, handling materials, operating equipment, and ensuring accurate documentation for incoming and outgoing products. The position requires a strong understanding of safety procedures, including Food Safety, GPMs, and Hazard Materials Regulations.

Requirements

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Ability to write simple correspondence and convey instructions or information.
Ability to add and subtract numbers and to multiply and divide fractions.
Ability to perform operations using units of weight measurement, volume, and size.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
Must be able to read and understand the basics of the Bill of Lading.
Understands and follows Hazard Materials Regulations 49 CFR Part 172.704.

Responsibilities

Follow all safety and quality procedures and observe operations to ensure a safe environment.
Uphold Site and Corporate Environmental Policies.
Ensure compliance with Food Product Safety and Product Quality standards.
Follow Food safety programs and GPMs.
Conduct daily cycle counts and participate in inventories.
Count and record the number of units of materials moved or handled.
Read work orders or follow instructions to ascertain materials or containers to be moved.
Load and unload materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves.
Convey materials from storage or work sites to designated areas.
Attach identifying tags or labels to materials or mark information on cases or other containers.
Maintain and clean the Warehouse area.
Remove product from Production lines safely and place product in the Warehouse, Trailer, or other area following safe stacking and storage procedures.
Operate and maintain forklift equipment safely.
Verify incoming product for damage and quantity against receiving paperwork, reject damaged items, document shortages, and record in receiving log.
Inspect trailers for unsafe conditions, leaking, etc., and record on the trailer inspection form.
Operate stretch wrapper and banding equipment.
Secure product for shipment as necessary.
