About The Position

The 1st shift Material Handler works in the plant and reports to the Warehouse Manager. This person maintains and verifies records and documentation for outbound shipments from the lines and keeps stock for all stations within the department. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Overtime may be voluntary or mandatory depending on business needs.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two years of forklift experience, ideally in a metal fabrication shop.
• Ability to perform basic math.
• Problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
• Ability to work within a team to accomplish an overall goal.
• Attention to detail, self-motivation, and ability to multitask.
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in a fast-paced environment.
• Previous experience moving large metal objects.
• Previous experience working in a Lean Manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Load, unload, and move materials within or near the plant, yard, or work site.
• Read work orders or follow oral instructions to determine which materials or containers to move.
• Load and unload materials by hand onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves.
• Move materials between storage or work sites and designated areas using a forklift, hand truck, electric dolly, or other device.
• Occasionally operate an industrial truck or electric hoist to assist with loading or moving materials and products.
• Complete a daily inspection before starting the forklift.
• Assist with routine or general housekeeping tasks related to the plant's 6S plan.
• Ensure compliance with corporate and plant safety standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
