About The Position

Generac is growing in Sussex, Wisconsin, and we’re looking for people like you to grow with us! Our new manufacturing facility is opening, and we have full-time, permanent opportunities in multiple departments. The Material Handler will be responsible for all material handling needs, primarily picking warehouse parts and delivering them to assembly areas to ensure efficient production. Work closely with production lines to ensure full utilization of people, materials, and equipment to meet customer demand. The Material Handler will be required to achieve company standards for Safety, Quality, Continuous Improvement (CI), and Productivity.

Requirements

  • 0-2 years of experience (Material Handler I)
  • 1-3 years' experience (Material Handler II)
  • 2 to 5 years' experience (Material Handler III)
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy
  • Effective communication skills
  • Basic PC knowledge (Material Handler I)
  • Intermediate PC knowledge (Material Handler II)
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal (Material Handler III)
  • Ability to identify and resolve basic problems (Material Handler I)
  • Ability to identify and resolve intermediate problems (Material Handler II)
  • Ability to perform basic reading, writing, and math function
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience and ability to operate a forklift or other equipment to transport materials
  • Ability to enter/maintain/transact materials in company ERP program
  • Previous experience coaching and training other employees (Material Handler III)
  • Experience leading and forming teams (Material Handler III)

Responsibilities

  • Picking warehouse parts and delivering them to assembly areas to ensure efficient production.
  • Work closely with production lines to ensure full utilization of people, materials, and equipment to meet customer demand.
  • Achieve company standards for Safety, Quality, Continuous Improvement (CI), and Productivity.
  • Follow and adhere to company policies.
  • Effectively work in a team environment.
  • Identify and resolve basic problems.
  • Operate all forklift or other equipment to transport materials.
  • Enter/maintain/transact materials in company ERP program.
  • Coach and train other employees.
  • Lead and form teams.
  • Work under general supervision with well-defined tasks while following company procedures, processes, and policies.
  • Participate in metric boards measuring Safety, Quality, CI, and Productivity and work is reviewed for accuracy.
  • Complete and retain all required training.
  • Resolve problems with assistance from peers or supervisors depending on the level and complexity.
  • Follows defined procedures and practices.
  • Contacts are typically with immediate supervisor and other members of the team in the immediate organization.
  • Participate in 5S programs that are based on visual control to determine if an area is normal or abnormal. If abnormal, fix the area immediately.
  • Complete forklift daily per procedure.
  • Maintain good attendance.
  • Report to Materials Supervisor and take direction from the Materials Leads.
