About The Position

Avantor is looking for a Material Handler to package, pick and process materials within the Preserved Materials Department under the direction of a supervisor, senior technicians and team lead. The Material Handler safely operates appropriate equipment (forklifts, hoists, crane, etc.) required to move materials along production floor and follows all safety rules and practices. This is a full-time position based out of our West Henrietta, NY location.

Requirements

  • High School education or GED.
  • Material handling or related experience.
  • Experience operating material handling equipment (i.e. forklifts).
  • Must be comfortable working with animal carcasses or parts.
  • Must be able to use proper techniques to lift up to 75 pounds.
  • Ability to follow directions with emphasis on safety is extremely important.
  • Must be able to shift priorities easily.
  • Familiarity with warehouse systems.

Nice To Haves

  • OSHA Forklift and HAZMAT certification a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Move pallets, drums, and containers safely to storage locations to be efficiently stacked as inventory.
  • Notify supervision of discrepancies and quality issues.
  • Ensure that the correct product number, quantity and type (lot, batch, serial number) of product are picked using RF scanning units.
  • Transport orders to appropriate locations or delivery platforms with material handling equipment such as but not limited to powered lifts, powered jacks or manual pallet jacks.
  • Label, stencil, tag, mark orders, band, bundle, wrap, over-pack, and palletize as required.
  • Compare quantity and labeling of orders to ensure out-going shipments are complete and correct.
  • Assign signature for outbound as necessary.
  • Efficiently move product, cartons and or pallets into appropriate areas for processing by other departments.
  • Maintain equipment in a neat, clean and orderly fashion.
  • Operate equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Comply with company standards and OSHA requirements.
  • Keep accurate records and reports.
  • Assist in physical inventories and cycle counts.
  • Ensure proper stock rotation.
  • Key inventory adjustments in computer.
  • Assemble orders according to description using appropriate packaging material.
  • Operate vacuum sealers and other packaging equipment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
