About The Position

The Stryten factory in Salina, Kansas is one of the largest lead-acid battery manufacturing sites in North America with 800 employees capable of producing more than 35,000 quality batteries per day. These batteries can be found in your car, in your boat or RV, or, in your lawn and garden equipment. Stryten proudly supports the local community by regularly participating in Project Salina, the Salvation Army Angel Tree program, and providing more than 100 volunteers for the Smoky Hill River Festival. All material handler personnel must be willing to work in any department. Material handlers must be trained and licensed in the operation of material handling equipment.

Requirements

  • Motor skills to operate material handling equipment in locations where product is stored
  • From the floor to 16 foot racks in narrow aisles.
  • Perform various duties requiring walking, sitting, lifting, bending, twisting.
  • Must be able to wear protective equipment required of the position.
  • Occasional lifting from grams up to 50 lbs.
  • Will be exposed to extreme environmental conditions (hot, cold, humid)
  • Excellent attention to detail, excellent multitasking skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous manufacturing or related experience

Responsibilities

  • Must successfully complete the material handling training and be licensed for the equipment used.
  • Capable of performing simple math and record information in written form.
  • Input and extract information from the computer.
  • Load and unload over-the-road trailers with powered equipment.
  • Must be able to understand and communicate in simple English to receive training instruction and to perform team responsibilities.
  • Comply with all safety and health policies and procedures.
  • Maintain the warehouse in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Must be able to operate and follow JD Edwards system.
  • Comply with current quality systems requirements.
  • Hazardous waste training shall be provided to the employee within six months of the date the employee filled this position and a review of this training provided every 12 months thereafter. The employee will complete a program of classroom instruction. The employee shall be supervised until training is completed. The training shall consist of a review of proper management of hazardous waste, satellite accumulation containers, how to review and prepare a hazardous waste manifest, and proper labeling requirements.
  • Perform other work as assigned by Management including 5S cleaning
