About The Position

The Material Handler (Days) position is a full-time role with an estimated base salary range of $18 - $24 per hour. This role is part of Steel Ceilings, a subsidiary of Armstrong World Industries, and offers a supportive culture where employees are recognized as key players. Requirements

  • Prior manufacturing, assembly, or production experience preferred.
  • Ability to learn equipment operation and production processes.
  • Forklift certification may be required for certain roles.

Responsibilities

  • Manufacture, assemble, and package products to meet customer demand while maintaining safety, quality, and productivity standards.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment while following all safety rules, standard work, and plant regulations to prevent injury or damage to materials and equipment.
  • Perform a variety of production-related tasks including: Machine operation and support, Assembly and packaging of finished goods, Material handling and job flow execution, Crating and staging product for shipment, Inventory counting and basic documentation, Assisting team members and supporting production needs.
  • Follow all company and OSHA safety policies and procedures.
  • Use required PPE and maintain safe work practices at all times.
  • Assemble materials and package finished products to meet customer requirements.
  • Perform visual inspections and ensure adherence to quality standards.
  • Identify defects and take appropriate action based on training and level of responsibility.
  • Follow posted work instructions and standard operating procedures.
  • Perform assigned tasks with increasing levels of independence.
  • Move materials correctly through the production process.
  • Maintain organized, efficient workstations.
  • Ensure readiness of tools, materials, and equipment.
  • Recommend improvements to workflow and efficiency at higher levels.
  • Accurately track production, time, and job data in required systems.
  • Complete production documentation and check sheets.
  • Support and train others on systems and documentation accuracy at advanced levels.
  • Identify and escalate abnormal conditions.
  • Troubleshoot issues within defined scope.
  • Proactively identify root causes and implement improvements.
  • Work collaboratively with team members and leadership.
  • Accept feedback and demonstrate continuous learning.
  • Act as a resource and support the development of others at advanced levels.
