About The Position

The Material Handler is responsible for gathering, weighing, and blending materials, as well as maintaining the supply of materials to production machines. This role involves moving materials using a forklift, grinding material, assisting with machine purging and cleaning, connecting vacuum systems, moving finished goods, and wrapping boxes. The Material Handler will also document material movements, complete paperwork, gather lot control information, monitor inventory levels, and check equipment. Additionally, this role includes unloading bulk resin trailers, maintaining a clean work area, ensuring proper housekeeping and sanitation, and maintaining safety in the department. Other warehousing and related tasks may be assigned. Marginal functions include relieving service persons and discarding cardboard bales. The role is also responsible for food safety, food quality, and site safety.

Requirements

  • Ability to operate a forklift.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks associated with material handling.
  • Understanding of inventory control principles.
  • Ability to complete paperwork accurately.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures.
  • Ability to maintain housekeeping and sanitation standards.

  • Experience in a similar warehousing or material handling role.
  • Familiarity with food safety regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Gather, weigh and blend materials.
  • Maintain supply of materials to machines (raw material, cartons, sleeves, skids, etc.).
  • Move materials to and from production areas by forklift and properly storing them when required.
  • Grind material, label regrind, keep grinding area organized and clean.
  • Assist in purging machines and cleaning magnets in the hopper throat.
  • Connect vacuum system to supply material to machines.
  • Move finished goods to warehouse.
  • Wrap finished boxes.
  • Document movement of materials and complete all required paperwork.
  • Gather lot control information for Quality Control.
  • Help to monitor inventory levels and advise supervision of low volumes.
  • Check equipment (tires, hours, brakes, etc).
  • Unload bulk resin trailers.
  • Keep work area clean and maintain proper housekeeping and sanitation.
  • Maintain safety in the department.
  • Perform other warehousing and related tasks.
  • Relieve service persons as necessary.
  • Discard cardboard bales to designated area in warehouse.
