About The Position

The Material Handler operates powered industrial equipment, including forklifts, high lifts, and both internal combustion and electric-powered vehicles. Must be willing and able to work in an environment with exposure to conditions that may include, but are not limited to, coolant, dust, mist, elevated noise levels and varying temperatures. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Requirements

  • 1+ year related experience required.
  • Ability to stop production and prevent the shipment of nonconforming or potentially nonconforming products to customers.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of material hazards and the ability to understand and follow Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
  • Ability to communicate effectively with line leads and the departments or areas being serviced.
  • Ability to follow safe forklift operating procedures.
  • Ability to operate a shrink wrap machine and battery hoist safely and effectively.
  • Ability to operate handheld scanners to process material movements, perform inventory transactions, and verify material locations.
  • Ability to read and understand Bills of Materials (BOMs).

Nice To Haves

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Stage baskets at production equipment and move work-in-process (WIP) materials throughout the facility.
  • Support Dee Zee's environmental policy by proactively implementing processes, identifying improvement opportunities, reducing waste and acting on environmental performance results and findings.
  • Sweep and remove debris from floors as needed.
  • Verify that pallets, crates and boxes are properly labeled and accurately identified.
  • Load and unload trailers and scan all materials to ensure accurate inventory tracking.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment by following 6S procedures, rules and regulations.
  • Occasionally operate overhead cranes to move and stage coils.
  • Operate the pallet wrapper and floor scale in accordance with established procedures.
  • Perform daily equipment inspections, including checking fluid levels, tires, and other operating conditions, and complete the required inspection checklist.
  • Route and deliver materials to the appropriate areas within the facility.
