About The Position

The Material Handler is responsible for moving materials following One Touch System guidelines throughout the donated goods cycle. This role also involves backing up the Attended Donation Center, assisting customers with large items, and providing world-class customer service. The Material Handler will organize and load trucks safely and efficiently, communicate issues to supervisors, and manage donated goods, salvage, and waste in warehouse spaces or trucks using material handling equipment. Additional duties include baling salvage materials, performing daily vehicle maintenance checks, maintaining records, and ensuring a positive public image through appearance and attitude. The role requires compliance with all safety and security policies and may involve other duties as assigned by Goodwill.

Requirements

  • Equipment certifications, ie. tow motor, pallet jack.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Strong sense of urgency.
  • Problem solving skills.
  • Must pass all required certifications.
  • Basic reading, writing, and counting.
  • Ability to ensure that information is passed on to others who should be kept informed.

Responsibilities

  • Move materials following One Touch System guidelines throughout donated goods cycle.
  • Back up for Attended Donation Center.
  • Carry-out for large items and world class customer service.
  • Organize and load trucks, safely, neatly and properly.
  • Communicate problems and rejections of donated goods to appropriate supervisor.
  • Move, organize, and stack donated goods, salvage, and waste in warehouse space or in trucks with the use of material handling equipment.
  • Bale salvage materials.
  • Maintains required daily maintenance check and keeps supervisor informed regarding maintenance for any vehicle assigned.
  • Maintains records and logs as required.
  • Maintains appearance, dress, attitude, and actions conducive to good public relations.
  • Keeps equipment clean and safe.
  • Maintenance duties as assigned.
  • Complies with all safety and security policies as directed by corporate management.
  • Other duties as required by Goodwill.
