About The Position

The Material Handler supports Cooper Steel's goals, values, and philosophy by exhibiting excellence, quality service, commitment, and accountability. As a member of the Cooper Steel team, performance includes demonstration of communication, teamwork, job knowledge, and leadership. The Material Handler is responsible for operating overhead cranes and forklifts to move material around the shop in a safe and efficient manner. They will also learn proper rigging and loading techniques.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Ability to squat, bend, twist, lift, pull, and reach
• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs
• Ability to climb up to 6 feet off the ground on a ladder or loading equipment
• Must be flexible in hours worked and willing to work overtime

Nice To Haves

• Prior experience in a similar role is preferred

Responsibilities

• Promote a strong quality culture throughout the company maintaining Cooper Steel’s core priorities: Safety, Quality, Production
• Read and understand load list to calculate material size and length when loading
• Understand units of measure, general mathematical equations
• Operate equipment / machinery and perform other job duties necessary within the shop and yard
• Inspect tools and equipment daily before use and maintain in good working order
• Other duties as assigned
