About The Position

The Fabrication Shop Material Handler plays a key role in supporting both fabrication and warehouse operations to ensure installation crews have what they need to work efficiently. This position involves fabricating and preparing fire sprinkler components, organizing inventory, handling material deliveries and pickups, and maintaining a safe, organized work environment. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and demonstrates a “do what it takes” attitude aligned with our company’s core values.

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Ability to lift and transport materials, tools, and supplies (up to 50 lbs).
Comfortable working in a fabrication shop and warehouse environment.
Prolonged periods of standing, bending, or moving in and around the shop/yard.
Occasional travel to branch locations or job sites for deliveries.
Good general health and stamina to perform physically demanding work safely.

Previous warehouse or fabrication experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Operate machinery and tools (welders, pipe threaders, saws, grinders, and hand tools) to fabricate and prepare fire sprinkler system components.
Follow detailed fabrication instructions, assembly drawings, and procedures for accurate, high-quality production.
Organize and maintain the fabrication shop and warehouse, ensuring materials are properly stored, accounted for, and easily accessible.
Document inventory transactions when pulling or returning materials; process returns to stock from jobsites.
Load and unload material deliveries, ensuring secure and careful handling.
Deliver parts and materials to job sites and pick up from vendors, representing Ironsmith Fire in a professional manner.
Coordinate with teams and suppliers to ensure timely deliveries and pickups.
Inspect equipment, tools, and vehicles for safety and functionality; report issues promptly.
Participate in daily shop and yard clean-up to maintain safety and productivity.
Support the Shop Foreman in balancing the shop’s purpose of serving installation crews with the efficiency of fabrication and warehouse processes.
Engage in continuous learning and training to improve skills in both fabrication and material handling.
