About The Position

The Material Handler is responsible for keeping materials and supplies flowing smoothly through the production area. This includes moving raw materials and finished goods to the right locations, using scanning devices to track inventory, and ensuring accurate and timely deliveries. The role supports production by maintaining inventory accuracy, organizing storage areas, and helping with continuous improvement and safety practices.

Requirements

  • Move materials in and out of storage locations
  • Follow first-in, first-out (FIFO) procedures for issuing materials
  • Use radio frequency (RF) scanners to track inventory and process transactions
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas
  • Support production flow by delivering materials on time
  • Verify, count, label, and stack materials correctly
  • Take breaks as needed to meet material demands of production
  • Flex schedule (start/end times) to support shift change needs
  • Use kanban cards to manage inventory
  • Communicate respectfully and professionally with team members
  • Participate in scheduled employee meetings and training
  • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Follow all health and safety policies and procedures
  • Report hazards and assist with safety inspections
  • Accurately complete required documentation and paperwork
  • Demonstrate dependable attendance and a team-oriented attitude
  • Safely operate forklifts, RF scanners, and related equipment (after training/licensing)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with kanban/Heijunka systems
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts (e.g., 5S, MPS, Mafact methods)
  • Suggest new processes or improvements to material flow or equipment use
  • Assist in planning better material delivery processes
  • Perform root cause analysis or help resolve material-related issues in systems like PICS
  • Perform and document weekly safety audits of work areas
  • Support workplace culture through positive reinforcement of safety and performance
  • Provide ongoing feedback to coworkers (positive or corrective)
  • Knowledge of material planning, scheduling, or expediting
  • Proficiency with Excel (intermediate level)
  • Comfortable making decisions and using good judgment independently
