About The Position

The Material Handler is responsible for moving materials within the facility using various equipment, loading and unloading materials, and ensuring production areas are supplied with necessary items. This role also involves maintaining equipment, collaborating with other departments, adhering to safety and quality standards, and following lean manufacturing principles for efficiency and organization. The Material Handler must be punctual and willing to perform other duties as assigned, including housekeeping tasks.

Requirements

Must use forklifts, hand trucks, hoists, overhead cranes and other equipment to move materials within the facility.
Load and unload material onto and from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves.
Safely move materials and place in correct location.
Supply production area with needed materials from inventory.
Keep material handling equipment and materials in a safe, clean and working order.
Open packages and containers using cutters and other tools.
Work with the supply chain, quality and production departments.
Advise Lead/Supervisor if the inventory to carry out the process are not sufficient.
Follow the plan and schedule defined by the Lead/Supervisor.
Follow instructions to keep and follow 6S methodology.
Use lean manufacturing principles to obtain the most efficient use of space and maintain the cleanliness and organization of the production and inventory areas.
Provide support to Shipping/Receiving and production areas when needed.
Ensure tasks are performed according to organizational requirements for quality management and environmental, health and safety standards, policies and procedures.
Comply with all company policies, procedures and rules.
Complete other duties and work in other areas as assigned by the Company, whether or not trained in that area.
Be at your workstation on time at the beginning of shift, and when the shift/break bell rings at the start and end of breaks.
