About The Position

Phillips Manufacturing is a well-established, Omaha-based manufacturer with over 65 years of providing quality products to our clients. We are a one-stop shop for drywall finishing accessories, lath, stucco accessories, metal channels, interior framing, and fire-rated assemblies with facilities around the country. A Material Handler in Steel Performs a wide variety of tasks focused on shipping/receiving, warehousing, maintaining & moving inventory, assembling orders and accurate data reporting. May operate hand and power equipment for material handling to accommodate movement of products throughout production facility.

Requirements

  • Forklift Driving experience, required (stand up and/or sit down).
  • Must be able to manually lift/carry product/supplies up to 60 lbs.
  • Ability to obtain and retain knowledge of pertinent occupational safety rules and practices.
  • Ability to reason through problems.
  • Ability to understand and follow simple oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to perform strenuous work in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to visually check equipment to detect adjustments.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers.
  • Ability to work with a wide variety of people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to adhere to all organizational policies and procedures.
  • Ability to listen and understand directions to adhere to all organizational policies and procedures.
  • Successful candidates must pass a pre-employment drug testing, background, and physical capacity screenings.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of 2 yrs of Shipping, Warehouse and Inventory Management and Inventory scanning experience, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Read work orders or follow oral instructions to determine appropriate materials to be moved.
  • Operate all forklifts and attached equipment; exhibiting a high level of safe practices at all times to ensure no damage or harm to the operator, other persons, forklift, physical structures, or the product.
  • Reports mechanical or electric problems to appropriate personnel.
  • Inventories material on production floor; supplies workers with materials as needed to maintain continuity of operations.
  • Scans, tracks, records, and communicates material information to appropriate areas, persons, or on appropriate production reports.
  • Keeps correct pallets, cartons, lifts ready for various operating units.
  • Banding and warehousing of finished product to specification, as necessary.
  • Responsible for locating material in plant in accordance with production requirements and transporting locations in the warehouse.
  • Visually inspect finished goods for proper product, packaging, labels, count, etc, before storing in a location.
  • Responsible for proper product identification to prevent errors in with data entry and inventory.
  • Properly labels and tags materials as called for in work orders as required.
  • Keep work area clean and orderly.
  • Regular and dependable attendance and punctuality, including being available for overtime whether offered on a voluntary or mandatory basis.
  • Observe all plant safety rules and regulations, wear proper safety attire at all times.
  • May perform other duties that are not fundamental to the overall purpose and strategic impact of the job.
