About The Position

Moves material to the production line to support manufacturing through the operation of all warehouse handling equipment, which includes forklifts of various types (regular & stand-up), hand trucks, pallet jacks, large roller ladders, etc. This role requires proficiency with the OW system (4D) for tasks such as looking up purchase orders, inventory items, and inventory by location, receiving shipments, running/creating Needs List reports, making inventory and location corrections, and printing product labels. The position also involves unloading trucks, verifying freight against shipping documents, applying product labels, identifying and moving inspection and medical items, locating and pulling inventory, and delivering items to the production floor. The Material Handler is expected to maintain regular attendance, comply with company policies and procedures, demonstrate professional behavior, follow instructions, keep the work area organized, and be willing to learn and improve skills in a team environment. General duties include machine maintenance, minor equipment repairs, generating reports, communicating information, and suggesting improvements for quality and efficiency. The role also requires staying current with technology and company software related to the position's responsibilities.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Prior forklift certification
  • Understanding of traditional manufacturing processes with machining and fabricating experience preferred.
  • Ability to communicate and work with multiple departments.
  • Proficient computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Proficient verbal, written communication, and presentation skills required.
  • Proficient organizational and time management skills required.
  • Ability to sit/walk/stand for extended periods of time on a daily basis
  • Ability to lift/reach/bend/stretch in manufacturing environment
  • Must be able to climb ladder heights of 20 feet.
  • Ability to use a computer for extended periods of time on a daily basis
  • Periodically use phone, copier, and fax
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs. on a regular basis
  • Ability to identify and distinguish colors
  • Mobility to effectively move and converse in all areas throughout the facility
  • Ability to work in a repetitive, side to side motion throughout the shift
  • Ability to handle and assemble small parts, requiring manual dexterity throughout the shift
  • Ability to tolerate exposure to wood dust/products, lacquer, metal dust/products and metal processing products in a normal manufacturing environment
  • Work in hot and cold environment with seasonally changing temperatures
  • Must complete training plan to perform job requirements in a safe and consistent manner as specified by Quality Management System (QMS): Employee Training will include the intended end use of the products
  • Shall be aware of device defects which may occur from the improper performance of their specific jobs.
  • Includes periodic recertification.
  • Responsible to report any defects either caused or observed.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize and be proficient with OW system (4D), including looking up/researching POs, specific inventory items and inventory by location.
  • Receive shipments into system on applicable POs.
  • Run/create and complete data entry for Needs List reports.
  • Make inventory and/or location corrections as needed.
  • Print applicable product inventory/identification labels.
  • Unload trucks/inbound freight, verify package quantities against BOL.
  • Verify package quantities/contents/part numbers against Packing List.
  • Apply applicable product identification labels on received items.
  • Identify and move/locate/store applicable Inspection and Medical items accordingly.
  • Locate/move/pull inventory items to/from applicable storage locations.
  • Deliver items to applicable requesting Production floor locations.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
  • Comply with Oakworks company rules, policies, and procedures, including safety, quality, department specific rules, and maintaining proprietary and confidential Company information.
  • Demonstrates professional behavior, integrity, strong work ethic, and Oakworks high standards.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written work instructions.
