About The Position

This role involves a variety of tasks related to the efficient movement, storage, and tracking of materials within the manufacturing facility. The Material Handler is responsible for ensuring materials are accurately prepared and delivered to machines to meet customer schedules, assisting with workstation and mold setup, maintaining a safe and clean work environment, and performing quality control inspections. The position also includes operating and maintaining injection molding machines, documenting production results, and adhering to all safety procedures.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Possession of basic math knowledge.
  • Problem-solving skills for manufacturing issues.
  • Ability to work as a self-starter with a can-do attitude, always working in the best interest of CCM.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision independently as well as an active team member.
  • Ability to comply with instructions, prescribed routines, methods, and/or practices.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to analyze and reconcile issues.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with others.

Responsibilities

  • Loading and unloading shipments.
  • Ensuring materials are accurately mixed, dried, and brought to the machines to meet customer schedules.
  • Setting up workstations and molds, assisting setup technicians in preparing workstations and molds for production presses.
  • Maintaining safety and good housekeeping by ensuring a clean and safe work environment.
  • Cleaning and maintaining material handling equipment, conveyors, and drying equipment.
  • Inventory control of all materials using a First In First Out method with traceability maintained.
  • Mixing, batching, and/or blending material for production.
  • Weighing and mixing color concentrates with raw material to meet job requirements.
  • Verifying weights before and after each production run for accurate inventory movement, including updating the IQMS system for quantities consumed.
  • Ensuring all hoppers, Gaylords, boxes, and other containers are marked accurately with material identification and quantity along with date as necessary.
  • Checking dryer settings against the approved setup sheet attached to the manufacturing plan.
  • Troubleshooting and adjusting dryers as required to produce parts in accordance with work instructions and the manufacturing plan in a safe manner.
  • Acting as a relief operator for breaks or as needed.
  • Checking color of parts using a colorimeter or color chip before releasing parts as production ready.
  • Creating MRO work orders for any materials equipment maintenance.
  • Inspecting produced parts for defects and ensuring compliance with quality standards.
  • Operating and maintaining injection molding machines and automation systems.
  • Identifying any unsafe conditions of machine and/or support equipment and notifying maintenance or supervisor immediately.
  • Stopping unsafe equipment from operation and locking it out from the power source.
  • Cleaning and loading all hoppers as required.
  • Documenting production and inspection results accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Adhering to all safety procedures and regulations within the plant.
