About The Position

This position is responsible for operating forklifts safely and efficiently, handling all freight inbound or outbound properly and orderly, maintaining the warehouse area with orderly stacking and good housekeeping, loading/unloading RJW truck/trailers and outside carriers safely using proper procedures. The role ensures all shipments are correctly staged, checked, and loaded properly, and is responsible for properly storing stock in the warehouse. The Material Handler performs duties to provide material handling services for warehouse shipping and receiving activities. This role works from warehouse operations sheets using a forklift to pick customer orders and load on trailers, and maintains forklift safety at all times following all safety policies and procedures.

Requirements

Possesses a sense of urgency, accountability, and be able to work with limited supervision.
General understanding of computers and handheld RF equipment.
Must be able to read, write, and understand English.
Attention to detail and quality a must.
Good communication, clear and concise, problem resolution, and people skills.
Flexibility in working overtime when needed, and supplying coverage to other shifts.
Ability to work in a fast-paced warehouse.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to compute rates, ratios, percentages and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Ability to determine "root cause" of problem and determine corrective action.
Knowledge of Business Operating Systems, Internet software, Word Processing, and Spreadsheet software.
Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Must be articulate and comfortable speaking in front of others.
Regularly works in an indoor/office environment and required to sit and/or use repetitive hand motion.
Frequently required to talk, hear, bend over, squat, reach, push, pull, stand and walk.
Must be able to work in excess of continuous 8 hours when required.
Must be able to work under stressful situations, have good cognitive skills, maintain work accuracy, and the ability to concentrate on more than one task at a time.
Must have the ability to read and discern visual images on a variety of media with 20/20 corrected vision.
Must be able to speak and communicate clearly over telephones.
Must be in sound physical health as determined by a certified licensed physician with no evidence of the use of controlled substances.

Nice To Haves

Warehousing certifications a plus.
PC skills helpful.
Ability to work in an indoor/office environment and required to sit and/or use repetitive hand motion.
Ability to activate phone systems utilizing keyboards and buttons.

Responsibilities

Assists Cross Dock Supervisor to ensure efficient operation of the warehouse.
Operate sit down forklift and/or EPJs.
Utilize RF Scanner, loading and unloading using forklift, QC, wrapping, staging and labeling.
Loads and unloads RJW truck / trailers safely and efficiently using proper procedures, including outside carriers equipment.
Picking and moving stock from 1 lb. to 50 lbs. multiple times.
Ensures all shipments are correctly staged and loaded properly.
Maintains warehouse area with orderly stacking and good housekeeping.
Processing outbound cross-dock freight as necessary.
Oversees storing stock properly in the warehouse and moving product into the dock staging lanes or racks.
Works from warehouse operations sheets using a forklift to pick customer orders and load on trailers.
Records and verifies the accuracy of the shipments against the paperwork for incoming and outgoing shipments / deliveries.
Ensures all documentation and paperwork is properly completed.
Operates forklifts safely and efficiently following all OSHA regulations, RJW safety policies, and procedures.
Completes daily forklift maintenance inspections.
Handles all customer products properly and orderly.
Checks deliveries for poor packing, general condition of materials, and free of damage.
Alerts Warehouse Supervisor of any problems, taking pictures if necessary.
Reports all accidents / incidents, to employee, damage of stock, or building damage to the Shift Supervisor immediately.
Spotting of trailers to maintain efficient yard organization and flow of equipment for the day.
Maintains access to dock doors both inside and outside the facility keeping them free of debris or snow.
Performs other tasks as assigned by manager.
