About The Position

This position is primarily responsible for performing routine tasks with limited judgment, requiring detailed instructions for most assignments. The role involves pulling materials from inventory, packaging customer orders for shipment using automated or manual carrier systems, and performing cycle counts. The Material Handler will also stock locations with shipping supplies, maintain warehouse orderliness, and potentially use a company vehicle for inter-building transport. Key responsibilities include managing bulk antibody inventory, supplying materials to internal customers, and handling the receiving and recording of returned goods. The position requires performing accurate material transactions, investigating discrepancies, conducting cycle counts, and providing excellent customer service. Regular interaction with other departments and internal customers is expected. Duties also extend to writing and updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), evaluating current processes, and recommending improvements. Significant time may be spent working in cold rooms when pulling product, and maintaining and updating data within SAP is crucial.

Requirements

  • Must have good inter-personal and communication skills.
  • Ability to utilize computer systems, Excel, Word, other software packages.
  • Ability to follow established policies and procedures.
  • Basic arithmetic skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide), read, write and clearly communicate verbally with associates.
  • Ability to routinely lift up to 35 pounds.
  • Typically requires a high school diploma and 0-2 years’ experience in materials distribution (shipping/receiving/inventory), or equivalent combination of related education and experience.
  • Must have Inventory experience.
  • Must have SAP experience.
  • Must have SOP experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with SAP and/or Lotus Notes a plus.
  • Shipping of temperature sensitive products is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Pulls materials from inventory locations.
  • Packages customer orders for shipment and processes them using automated or manual carrier shipping systems.
  • Performs cycle counting of materials.
  • Prepares daily shipments by stocking multiple locations with shipping supplies.
  • Keeps the warehouse orderly and organized.
  • Maintains bulk antibody inventory.
  • Provides material for internal customers.
  • Receives and records returned goods.
  • Performs accurate material transactions.
  • Investigates discrepancies.
  • Writes and updates SOPs.
  • Evaluates current processes and provides improvement recommendations.
  • Works extensively in cold rooms when pulling product.
  • Updates and maintains data within SAP.
  • Sorts customer orders properly, picks products from inventory locations, verifies other associate product pulls, and prepares goods for final shipment in accordance to product temperature shipping requirements.
  • Packs orders requiring dry ice refrigerant as directed.
  • Processes daily outbound customer orders using automated carrier or manual shipping systems.
  • Replenishes daily, consumable shipping supplies, copier paper, foam boxes, and other consumable supplies as assigned in their work environments such as workstations, cold rooms, or warehouses etc.
  • Helps to prepare and maintain records of merchandise shipped such as Transfer Orders, Shipping Letters of Instructions, Export Declarations, etc.
  • Picks up and delivers materials and components as directed.
  • Signs for materials received, checks goods against packing slips and seeks direction when materials do not match or are damaged.
  • Applies product labeling for materials.
  • Processes and delivers materials to appropriate personnel.
  • Notifies Supervisor of damaged or mixed materials.
  • Participates in required training on regulatory issues affecting own area of work and brings regulatory compliance questions/issues to the attention of management.
  • Helps to process invoices for international orders in SAP system, and assists in preparation of shipping documentation for domestic shipments as directed.
  • Communicates daily progress and notifies problem situations to the Team Lead or Supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Maintains shipping and warehouse areas in a clean and orderly manner.
  • Operates a forklift and/or Company vehicle as directed.
  • Provides accurate, timely, and courteous service to all customers.
  • Follows client Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) policies and procedures.
  • Takes responsibility for safety in immediate work area.
  • Participates in EH&S programs.
  • Notifies supervisors of all observed hazardous conditions or unsafe work practices.
  • Provides recommendations on maintaining the safety of the work environment.
  • Maintains bulk inventories and integrity of paper and electronic records without direct supervision.
  • Conducts cycle counts of all bulk inventories under control of Operations on a schedule determined by Lead Inventory Control Coordinator and/or Sr. Inventory Control Coordinator.
  • Receives and sends bulk material and samples to and from Production and QC without direct supervision.
  • Provides material for internal customers as directed by Production Planners or operations management without direct supervision.
  • Performs other related duties and assignments as designated by Supervisor.
