We are GAF. And under this roof, we protect what matters most. Job Summary The Material Handler Associate is ultimately responsible for managing process flow in our Shipping department. This includes safely & properly fulfilling orders for our customers promptly. Using tools such as pallet jacks, material handlers transition pallets of product to our order staging area and ultimately onto the customer truck for shipment to the product's final destination. The Shipping Material Handler works in Burgaw, NC, and partners with the Logistics team to support the warehouse and our customers.

Requirements

  • H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required
  • 6 months prior manufacturing experience in a fast-paced environment.
  • Prior UPS Worldship experience
  • Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division).
  • Ability to climb ladders and/or stairs.
  • Frequent use of eye, hand, and finger coordination enabling the use of office machinery.
  • Physical ability to use a pallet truck for pulling orders.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds several times throughout the day.
  • Must be able to operate a sit-down forklift and walkie rider.

Nice To Haves

  • Available to work overtime on short notice, nights, holidays, and weekends.
  • Prior Working Knowledge of Bar Coded Inventory management system desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Managing process flow in the Shipping department.
  • Safely and properly fulfilling orders for customers promptly.
  • Using tools such as pallet jacks to transition pallets of product to the order staging area and onto the customer truck for shipment.
  • Partnering with the Logistics team to support the warehouse and customers.
  • Knowledge of GAF products & parts and ongoing awareness of availability.
  • Working as a team to fulfill orders for all customers in a safe and time-sensitive manner.
  • Utilizing handheld computers for loading trucks and tracking progress.
  • Working in other areas as business needs require.
  • Maintaining a good attitude toward company policies, processes, regulations, and procedures.
  • Performing administrative tasks as required.
  • Backing up Shipping Clerks, Receiving Coordinator, UPS, general shipping, and other duties as required.
  • Ability to communicate, both written and orally, by means of radio or telephone, computer problems, product shortages, and other order issues.
  • Performing assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to differentiate various stock items and product differences.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and conduct oneself in a professional manner in the course of performing the job.
  • Ability to read orders and record information in English.
