About The Position

The Material Handler role is responsible for operating a forklift to collect, stack, and deliver a wide variety of materials within the production plant to support assigned team. This role requires adherence to all safety procedures, proper identification and disposal of materials, and operation of various equipment such as radios, scanners, trash compactors, and cardboard bailers. The position also involves maintaining a clean and organized work area, ensuring aisles are clear and parts are stocked correctly. The Material Handler will fill out daily checklists, complete visual inspections, keep supplies stocked, and respond to team requests promptly. A key part of the role includes understanding and utilizing the JDE program for functions like sending and tracking Kanban cards, and using all departmental communication programs for supply needs. The employee is expected to model Team Member Expected Behaviors and Henny Penny core values, and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent experience
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • 1-3 years of experience in material handling or operating a forklift
  • Forklift Certification required
  • Crane license required for Punch Cell roles
  • Ability to frequently lift or move objects up to 60 lbs.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize internal customer needs
  • Effective communication, interpersonal and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to problem-solve and troubleshoot
  • Knowledge of basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, and divide)
  • Ability to understand manufacturing processes such as Kanban, JDE, BOM viewer, method sheets, etc.
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos
  • Basic computer skills
  • Must be able to successfully pass pre-employment drug screen, background check screen, and motor vehicle screen (if applicable)

Responsibilities

  • Operates a forklift to collect, stack, and deliver materials within the production plant.
  • Demonstrates consistency in practicing all safety procedures.
  • Identifies material types and practices proper disposal of scrap.
  • Operates equipment such as radios, scanners, trash compacter, and cardboard bailer.
  • Maintains a clean and orderly area, ensuring aisle ways are clear and part racks are organized.
  • Stocks parts in posted locations.
  • Fills out daily checklists and completes visual inspections.
  • Keeps supplies adequately stocked for the team’s daily needs.
  • Responds to team requests in a timely manner.
  • Correctly uses JDE program functions (e.g., sending Kanban cards, tracking Kanban card status and history).
  • Utilizes all programs for communication of supply needs in the department.
  • Models Team Member Expected Behaviors and Henny Penny core values.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
