About The Position

The Material Handler is responsible for performing tasks involving the shipping and receiving of both raw and finished materials. This role operates mechanical forklifts, pallet jacks, and stock picker lift trucks, and maintains a handheld warehouse computer (RF Scanner). The position involves accurately selecting customer orders, completing work order sheets, and working on both the Receiving and Shipping docks. Responsibilities include unloading trucks, validating deliveries, and documenting any discrepancies. Specific tasks involve unloading meat trucks, performing weighing and temperature reviews, ensuring correct product labeling, and distributing received items. Daily shipments require picking, count verification, pallet wrapping/stacking, and proper marking for pickup. The role also involves loading finished goods onto trailers within specified timeframes and maintaining accurate inventory of finished products and supplies. Safety is paramount, requiring operation of forklifts, pallet jacks, and potentially a yard spotter truck (training provided). Adherence to production schedules, GMPs, HACCP, SOPs, and SSOPs is essential. The position also includes cleaning and maintaining the warehouse facilities and following all company and OSHA safety regulations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED, preferred.
  • 1-3 Months related manufacturing or food experience, preferred.
  • Knowledge of warehouse and lift trucks experience.
  • Basic knowledge of supply chain, purchasing, materials, and/or Manufacturing.
  • Basic computer, email experience.
  • Excellent attendance and dependability.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail
  • Work well with others
  • Working knowledge of computers and basic knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Excellent verbal communication skills; must work effectively with others.

Responsibilities

  • Operating mechanical forklifts, pallet jacks, and stock picker lift trucks.
  • Operating and maintaining RF Scanner (handheld warehouse computer).
  • Accurate and timely selecting of customers’ orders
  • Accurately completing work order sheets.
  • Working on both the Receiving and Shipping docks as needed.
  • Unload trucks and validate deliveries against appropriate documentation, and notify supervisor or FSQ of discrepancies.
  • Unload meat trucks and complete weighing and temperature review of each pallet and documenting each measurement.
  • Notify Supervisor or Food Safety Quality (FSQ) of any discrepancies
  • Ensure products are correctly labeled and identified for proper storing and use.
  • Distribute the items received to the person or department for which the item was ordered.
  • Daily shipments must be picked, counts verified, pallets wrapped or stacked neatly for pick-ups, marked accordingly to customer, transportation and location of shipment.
  • Load finished goods onto trailer within specified timeframe.
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of finished products and supplies in the warehouse.
  • Operate a Forklift, Pallet Jack, and/or Strait Truck
  • Operate Yard Spotter Truck (training provided)
  • Follow daily production schedule and achieve specified goals.
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) training, along with company pre-requisite programs, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), and Standard Sanitation Operating Procedures (SSOP’s).
  • Cleaning and maintaining warehouse floor and facilities as needed.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as necessary.
  • Following set company and OSHA safety rules, regulations, and guidelines at all times
