About The Position

The Material Handler unloads donations from containers and moves goods to appropriate production areas. This role is responsible for removing and sorting through salvage material and garbage from salable goods, sorting donations into appropriate bins for further processing, and ensuring a smooth flow of goods to the production floor. The position also involves operating cardboard compactors, identifying problems with them, maintaining donor tallies, and keeping a clean work environment. Demonstrating safe work practices through awareness and observation is crucial for supporting a safety culture, including reporting any potential hazards or accidents. Building and maintaining internal and external customer satisfaction is also a key responsibility. The role contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. If applicable and certified, duties may include the safe execution of forklift operation. Minors are not permitted to use or perform any job duties with any heavy machinery or compactors. Other duties may be assigned at any time.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalency preferred, but not required
  • No experience required
  • Lift and carry up to 30-40 pounds
  • Developed fine motor control (grasp, handle, manipulate objects with fingers)
  • Standing for long periods
  • Frequent bending, kneeling, reaching, stooping, squatting, pushing
  • Climbing ladders
  • Able to travel across a variety of surfaces (stairs, ramps, uneven terrain)
  • Able to communicate with others effectively both verbally and written, including those who have limited English skills.

Responsibilities
