About The Position

The Material Handler is responsible for safe, accurate handling and staging of raw and finished materials (aluminum, steel, copper) to support production. Key duties include loading coils onto uncoilers, staging material at work centers, operating forklifts and tumbling equipment, assisting secondary operations, and performing packaging and deburring tasks to ensure continuous production flow.

Requirements

  • 1–3 years manufacturing or warehouse experience preferred, ideally with coil handling or press/roll mill environments.
  • Prior forklift experience required
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to operate tumbling and basic finishing equipment.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, read work orders, and complete documentation accurately.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Team-player with good communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Load aluminum, steel, and copper coils onto uncoilers with assistance from press and roll mill operators; ensure correct orientation and secure mounting.
  • Stage material and components at designated work centers prior to production runs; confirm part specifications and quantities.
  • Remove packaging and ensure existing inventory is exhausted before part changeovers to prevent mix-ups.
  • Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment to move raw materials, skids, dunnage, and finished goods throughout the facility; heavy forklift use required.
  • Move and return dunnage to designated storage/return areas and maintain organized staging zones.
  • Operate tumbling/finishing machines for metal brackets and monitor cycle/quality; perform routine cleaning and basic maintenance per SOPs.
  • Deburr ends of bar stock and perform light finishing tasks as required.
  • Build skids, palletize product, label shipments, and package finished parts per packing instructions.
  • Assist secondary operations and other production areas with staging, kitting, and material pulls as needed.
  • Maintain accurate inventory counts, report material shortages, and assist with stock rotations (first-in, first-out).
  • Follow all safety procedures, PPE requirements, and lockout/tagout when applicable.
  • Complete required documentation (material moves, pallet tags, inventory adjustments) and communicate material status to supervisors.
  • Be self-motivated and organized to prioritize tasks and remain productive throughout the shift.
  • Perform other tasks relating to manufacturing as delegated by management.
