About The Position

Nortek Data Center Cooling, a Madison Industries company, is seeking a Material Handler I for its Data Center Cooling division. This role is crucial for receiving and moving materials, expediting operations, and reporting issues within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The Material Handler will support Lean Business Enterprise initiatives for continuous process improvement and waste elimination, handling both raw and finished goods for Fabrication/Weld. This includes loading and unloading materials from trucks, using computer systems to track materials, and assisting other operators. The company is a premier HVAC provider focused on energy-efficient and sustainable products, aiming to create a better tomorrow every day.

Requirements

  • High School graduate or GED equivalent.
  • 3-5 years’ work experience in warehousing within the manufacturing industry.
  • Acceptable MVR for forklift certification.
  • Must always have the ability to wear all required PPE.
  • Must be able to stand, sit, bend and twist for 10 hours a day.
  • Ability to operate forklift equipment once properly certified.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with MS Office Suite, specifically Excel.
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Must be detail oriented, self-motivated, anticipate work to be done, work with minimum supervision and have strong follow-up skills.
  • Must have proven ability to work as a member of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Receives material requests from various sources and prepares for production.
  • Puts away all incoming freight and product returns.
  • Expedites operations that delay schedules, such as scrap, rework, or missing materials, and communicates these issues with department leads.
  • Reports shortages with vendor-supplied components.
  • Assists with inventory accuracy projects.
  • Uses tablets, scanners, printers, and computers.
  • Performs cycle counting and corrects product locations.
  • Operates forklift equipment once properly certified.
  • Maintains an attitude that consistently represents the organizational culture, including the mission, vision, and core attributes.
  • Demonstrates ability to be a team player.
  • Performs other ad hoc duties as assigned by the manager.
  • Supports Lean Business Enterprise initiatives for continuous process improvement and waste elimination.
  • Moves raw and finished goods for Fabrication/Weld.
  • Loads and unloads material on trucks.
  • Moves material in the computer system.
  • Assists other operators in the area with daily production-related work.
