About The Position
The Material Handler position involves performing various warehouse duties, with a primary focus on fulfilling sales orders. This includes accurately pulling, weighing, and counting materials, documenting necessary information on sales orders, and packaging items for shipment. For specific materials like Metal Joining or items shipped via UPS, the handler will forward them to dedicated packers. The role also encompasses general warehouse upkeep and the operation of essential equipment.
Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- One to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Mechanical ability to function on a forklift/side loader
- The ability to read a tape measure, micrometer, or other measuring devices is required
- Basic math skills are required, the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide
- Knowledgeable with computers
- Capability to work steadily and independently to complete the assigned tasks
Responsibilities
- Pulls material from stock to fill sales orders.
- Weighs or counts such material and writes the necessary information on sales orders.
- Packs material for shipment.
- Performs miscellaneous duties such as department “clean-up”.
- Operates equipment such as cranes, high-lifts, and fork trucks.
