About The Position

The Material Handler – WMS Specialist is a hands-on warehouse position responsible for supporting the daily movement, storage, accuracy, and control of inventory while serving as a subject matter expert and first point of contact for RF-SMART Warehouse Management System (WMS) activities. This position combines traditional material handling responsibilities with advanced warehouse systems knowledge. The WMS Specialist will work alongside the warehouse team performing receiving, putaway, replenishment, picking, staging, inventory movements, and other material handling activities while helping ensure RF-SMART and NetSuite accurately reflect the physical movement and location of inventory. The position will also serve as an on-the-floor RF-SMART resource, troubleshooting user and process issues, maintaining warehouse system data and configurations within assigned permissions, training employees, and partnering with Warehouse Leadership, IT, Inventory Control, and other departments to continuously improve warehouse processes.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Three or more years of warehouse, distribution, inventory control, or material handling experience.
  • Demonstrated experience using a Warehouse Management System (WMS) in a receiving, inventory, picking, or distribution environment.
  • Strong understanding of warehouse inventory movement, bin locations, receiving, putaway, replenishment, picking, cycle counting, and inventory control.
  • Experience using RF scanners and barcode-based warehouse processes.
  • Strong computer skills and ability to learn and navigate ERP/WMS applications.
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting and problem-solving ability.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to inventory accuracy.
  • Ability to train and assist employees with varying levels of technical experience.
  • Ability to safely operate or become certified to operate forklifts and other material handling equipment.

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on RF-SMART WMS experience.
  • RF-SMART Super User Administrator certification or comparable RF-SMART training.
  • Experience with NetSuite ERP.
  • Experience creating or maintaining bins, license plates, replenishment rules, directed putaway/storage strategies, or similar WMS configurations.
  • Experience troubleshooting WMS transactions and inventory discrepancies.
  • Experience supporting WMS implementation, conversion, testing, or post-go-live stabilization.
  • Experience in food manufacturing, food distribution, or another lot-controlled manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily material handling activities including receiving, putaway, replenishment, picking, staging, transfers, and movement of raw materials, packaging, finished goods, and other inventory.
  • Safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, RF scanners, and other material handling equipment.
  • Complete all inventory movements using RF-SMART and NetSuite in accordance with established warehouse procedures.
  • Ensure physical inventory locations and quantities accurately match system records.
  • Assist with cycle counts, physical inventories, inventory research, and reconciliation of discrepancies.
  • Investigate misplaced inventory, incorrect transactions, and other inventory accuracy issues.
  • Follow FIFO/FEFO, lot control, food safety, quality, and other applicable inventory requirements.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe warehouse and storage areas.
  • Serve as an RF-SMART super user and primary floor-level resource for warehouse employees.
  • Troubleshoot routine RF-SMART issues involving receiving, putaway, picking, inventory transfers, replenishment, license plating, cycle counting, scanning, labeling, and other warehouse transactions.
  • Create and maintain warehouse bins and bin-related information in accordance with established warehouse design and inventory strategies.
  • Create, maintain, research, and troubleshoot license plates and associated inventory.
  • Help maintain and validate storage, putaway, replenishment, and picking strategies to ensure inventory is directed to appropriate warehouse locations.
  • Identify transactions or inventory conditions that do not match expected system behavior and research the underlying cause.
  • Assist with label and barcode issues, including inventory, bin, pallet/license plate, and other warehouse labels.
  • Support RF scanner and printer troubleshooting and escalate hardware or system issues when necessary.
  • Assist with testing system changes, new workflows, RF-SMART functionality, and warehouse process improvements before deployment.
  • Document recurring system issues, resolutions, and recommended process changes.
  • Escalate system configuration, NetSuite, integration, or software issues to the appropriate internal or external resource when the issue exceeds assigned system access or responsibility.
  • Train new and existing employees on proper RF-SMART transactions and warehouse processes.
  • Coach employees when system or transaction errors are identified and reinforce proper scanning and inventory procedures.
  • Help develop and maintain standard work, job aids, and warehouse system procedures.
  • Identify opportunities to improve inventory accuracy, warehouse utilization, transaction efficiency, and material flow.
  • Partner with Warehouse Leadership to ensure system configuration and physical warehouse processes remain aligned.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities involving warehouse layout, storage strategies, picking paths, replenishment, inventory accuracy, and system utilization.
  • Serve as a key warehouse resource during RF-SMART and NetSuite enhancements, upgrades, testing, and process changes.
