About The Position

This role involves loading and unloading trucks, receiving, checking, storing, counting, and distributing inventory according to established systems and procedures. The position requires maintaining a safe work environment, meeting warehouse goals, completing paperwork accurately, managing inventory levels, and maintaining forklift certification. Responsibilities include periodic inventories, tracing discrepancies, overseeing incoming goods, stacking products, performing equipment inspections, replenishing stock, moving product, and rotating stock based on dates or FIFO principles. The role also involves operating electric forklifts and pallet jacks, working in freezer temperatures (32 to -25 degrees), and providing general support to production. Safety is paramount, requiring reporting of all injuries and unsafe conditions, using proper lifting techniques, mechanical assistance, and personal assistance when needed. Employees must use handrails and wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in varied plant temperatures (averaging 50 degrees), including hairnets, smocks, boots, earplugs, gloves, plastic sleeves, and aprons. Compliance with Food Safety requirements (GMP’s, SSOP, SOP, HACCP, SQF) and Quality requirements is mandatory.

Requirements

  • 3-4 years of warehouse, manufacturing or production experience
  • One year of shift lead experience with sound, effective communication skills
  • Maintain forklift certification
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software
  • Ability to work in production/warehouse environment with constant exposure to loud machinery
  • Ability to work in extreme temperatures, both indoors and outdoors
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Continuously required to sit or stand, control pedals and driving a forklift.
  • Frequent standing, walking, kneeling, stooping, crouching and squatting.
  • Occasional reaching at shoulder height and working at shoulder height, body bending, climbing stairs, lifting up to 80 pounds at shoulder height, handling – gross motor and fine motor of the fingers.
  • Will be exposed to loud industrial type environments commonly found at plants and working with power equipment.
  • Also exposed to toxic chemicals.
  • Varied temperatures from hot and humid to very cold.

Responsibilities

  • Load and/or unload trucks.
  • Receive, check, store, count and distribute inventory.
  • Maintain safe and positive work environment in compliance with OSHA, company standards, and local, state and federal requirements.
  • Perform tasks necessary to meet warehouse goals.
  • Accurately complete all necessary paperwork.
  • Manage day to day inventory levels.
  • Maintain Forklift certification.
  • Perform periodic inventories.
  • Trace history of items to determine reasons for discrepancies between inventory and stock control records and recommend remedial actions.
  • Execute daily receiving and shipping load board, oversee the receipt of purchased goods verifying counts, quality and complete all required paperwork and transactions.
  • Stack and arrange product on pallets.
  • Complete forklift and pallet jack inspections before each shift.
  • Replenish stock while maintaining a cleaned and organized warehouse/location daily.
  • Move product in warehouse/location as necessary during reallocations of space or taking of inventory.
  • Rotate product and arrange according to Julian dates or FIFO (first in first out).
  • Receive and check incoming products against receiving documents, ensuring proper product code, quantity and condition; report any discrepancies.
  • Operate electric forklifts and pallet jacks.
  • Work in and out of freezers with temperatures averaging 32 degrees to -25 degrees.
  • Provide general support of production.
  • Report all injuries, unsafe conditions, unsafe acts and horseplay.
  • Use proper lifting techniques.
  • Use mechanical assistance (handjack, forklift, manlift).
  • Use personal assistance (buddy).
  • Use handrails.
  • Use and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Comply with Food Safety: GMP’S, SSOP, SOP, HACCP, SQF, and Quality requirements.
