About The Position

This role is responsible for receiving incoming packaging material, ingredients, and small packages. The Material Handler will schedule delivery appointments, load/unload shipments, document and record inbound/outbound shipments, and store/label received materials according to FIFO criteria. This position also involves reconciling bills-of-lading, verifying counts, and ensuring quantities received are as ordered. The Material Handler will move materials for internal departments, maintain receiving logs, and provide reports to various departments. Additional duties include managing vacuum waste drums, assisting in the operation of a CO2 chamber, and safely operating a sit-down forklift with an emphasis on warehousing skills, high stacking, and palletizing material. The role also entails maintaining and disposing of hold (defective) and test material, providing WIP for the production team, keeping the warehouse clean and organized, labeling and recording MSDS materials, and maintaining inventory of Production, Maintenance, and Office supplies. The Material Handler will also assist in stocking supplies and setting up for the next shift, and is responsible for reporting food safety and quality issues immediately, following all Food Safety guidelines (GMP’s, Allergen Program, Quality, Sanitation, Safety).

Requirements

  • Minimum 2-4 years' experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment
  • Minimum 2-4 years' experience operating a sit-down forklift

Responsibilities

  • Receive incoming packaging material, ingredients, and small packages.
  • Schedule delivery appointments, and be available to answer dock door during business hours.
  • Load/Unload, document, and record inbound/outbound shipments.
  • Store and label received materials and rotate existing stock according to FIFO criteria.
  • Reconcile bills-of-lading, verify counts, and ensure quantities received are as ordered.
  • Move material/packages for internal departments.
  • Maintain receiving logs. Provide reports for Quality, Planning, Purchasing, and Accounting.
  • Manage vacuum waste drums and maintain charge.
  • Assist in operation of CO2 chamber.
  • Safely operate fork truck with emphasis on warehousing skills, high stacking experience, and palletizing material including; charging, daily inspection logs etc.
  • Maintain and be responsible for disposition of hold (defective) and test material.
  • Provide WIP for production team based on needs, keep bins of product organized and labeled.
  • Keep warehouse clean, organized and dispose of recycling appropriately.
  • Label and record MSDS materials.
  • Maintain Central Stores inventory of Production, Maintenance, and Office supplies.
  • Assist in keeping supplies stocked and setting up for the next shift.
  • Responsible for reporting food safety and quality issues and initiating action, immediately.
  • Follow all Food Safety guidelines, but not limited to: GMP’s / Allergen Program / Quality / Sanitation / Safety.
  • Additional duties and various projects as needed.
