This role contributes to Baxter's mission of saving and sustaining lives by efficiently and accurately transporting raw materials and other production supplies to and from production areas, storage areas, staging areas, and trailers using a forklift, pallet truck, or other PIT. The Material Handler, Receiving is driven by the knowledge that the products they help make save and sustain lives. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED and must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Previous experience with a forklift.
  • Possess or be able to obtain Powered Industrial Truck Certification.
  • May be required to obtain Hazmat Training if not already completed.
  • Basic English written and oral communication skills adequate to communicate with other team members.
  • Understand verbal and written safety and quality instructions and read and comprehend written work instructions including words and drawings.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematics.
  • Basic computer skills required.
  • Ability to pass the Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) physical.
  • Operate foot controls, bend/stoop, squat, climb, reach above shoulder level, reach at or below shoulder level, twist and bend at the neck, twist and bend at the waist and balance.

  • CRC (Career Readiness Certification) at the Silver level, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Contributes to our mission of saving and sustaining lives by efficiently and accurately transporting raw materials and other production supplies to and from production areas, storage areas, staging areas, and trailers using a forklift, pallet truck or other PIT.
  • Pick raw materials and production supplies from warehouse either by hand, forklift or other means and deliver to the designated area.
  • Schedule or upon request, pick up materials or empty containers from production areas and transport to the warehouse or other department.
  • Use the Enterprise Resource Planning software (GME) to access and update inventory locations if necessary.
  • Receive IPSO (Inter-Plant Shipping Orders) and prepares them for shipment.
  • Secure trailer while loading by blocking and locking out.
  • Unload raw materials and production supplies from trailers and box trucks.
  • Pre-Op the forklift and change out batteries (if required).
  • Notify the supervisor and take appropriate action if any safety, quality, mechanical or discrepancy issues occur.
  • Sustain a clean and safe work area using 6S principles.
  • Learn, understand and apply rigorous quality standards, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).
