About The Position

The Material Handler plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient receipt, storage, and distribution of materials within an organization, particularly in environments involving government acquisition processes. This position is responsible for managing inventory accuracy, coordinating with procurement and logistics teams, and maintaining compliance with government regulations related to material handling and acquisition. The Material Handler ensures that all materials are properly documented, stored safely, and delivered on time to support operational needs. This role requires meticulous attention to detail and a strong understanding of government acquisition protocols to facilitate seamless supply chain operations. Ultimately, the Material Handler contributes to the organization's ability to meet contractual obligations and maintain operational readiness through effective material management. The required skills in government acquisition are essential for ensuring that all material handling activities comply with federal regulations and contractual obligations, which helps prevent costly errors and delays. On a daily basis, the Material Handler uses these skills to accurately interpret acquisition documents and coordinate with procurement teams to verify material specifications and delivery requirements. Preferred skills such as familiarity with warehouse management software and certification in acquisition processes enhance the ability to efficiently track inventory and maintain compliance. Strong organizational skills are applied to manage storage systems and conduct audits, ensuring materials are readily available and accounted for. Effective communication skills facilitate collaboration with cross-functional teams, enabling smooth operations and timely resolution of any material-related issues.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in material handling or warehouse operations, preferably within a government acquisition environment.
  • Basic knowledge of government acquisition regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to operate material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in government acquisition or supply chain management (e.g., DAWIA Level I or equivalent).
  • Experience with warehouse management software and inventory control systems.
  • Familiarity with federal acquisition regulations (FAR) and related compliance standards.
  • Forklift operator certification.
  • Prior experience working in a government or defense contracting environment.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, inspect, and verify incoming materials against government acquisition documentation and purchase orders.
  • Accurately record and track inventory levels using warehouse management systems and ensure compliance with government regulations.
  • Safely store materials in designated locations, maintaining organization and accessibility for timely retrieval.
  • Coordinate with procurement, logistics, and project teams to fulfill material requests and support production schedules.
  • Conduct regular inventory audits and report discrepancies or issues to management for resolution.
