About The Position

Ryder is hiring a temporary-to-permanent Material Handler in Joliet, Illinois. The position supports warehouse fulfillment and distribution in a safety-focused environment using state-of-the-art equipment. Products handled are sealed liquids. The role pays $21.00 per hour, with overtime pay of $31.50 per hour and a $1.00-per-hour shift premium. Pay is weekly, and paid on-the-job training and safety gear are provided. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 2:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. (second shift).

Requirements

At least two years of related warehouse and powered industrial lift experience.
Ability to read, perform basic mathematics, and understand and respond to written and verbal instructions in English for safety, work instructions, and policies.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted.
Ability to input data into a computer system.
Ability to work overtime as assigned.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

Read, interpret, and apply Warehouse Management System (WMS) order instructions.
Recognize and correct potential process errors before they adversely affect the customer.
Identify damaged product at any point in the warehousing process and take appropriate action.
Pull orders accurately as assigned.
Stage orders according to carrier location and verify the number of pallets picked and the stage location.
Prepare receiving, storage, and shipping documentation while retaining product accountability throughout the logistical process.
Follow location and work-center safety and security policies and procedures.
Train others in various warehouse functions, including safe operation of powered industrial lift equipment, when required.
Perform housekeeping and other duties as assigned.
Operate forklift equipment or other warehouse machinery.
