About The Position

The Material Handler II is responsible for receiving, moving, storing, counting, tracking, issuing, and shipping a variety of production parts, materials, and supplies. The production floor relies on this position to provide the right parts and materials at the right time to meet on-time-delivery goals. Crane Aerospace & Electronics supplies critical systems and components to the aerospace and defense markets, operating in tough environments from engines to landing gear, satellites to medical implants, and missiles to unmanned aerial systems (UAS). The Burbank facility, home to the Landing & Cabin Systems team, produces brake control systems and premium cabin actuation solutions for aircraft worldwide. The company emphasizes engineering excellence and is located in Burbank, known for its community atmosphere, schools, weather, and entertainment.

Requirements

  • 3-6 years of relevant manufacturing experience
  • Previous experience working with manufacturing software tools
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods
  • Familiar with lean principles
  • Understanding of continuous improvement tools
  • Demonstrated outstanding manual dexterity
  • Demonstrated ability to concentrate on repetitive tasks
  • Demonstrated ability to accurately follow detailed work instructions
  • Demonstrated ability to understand standard work instructions
  • Demonstrated ability to solve routine problems
  • Math skills to perform basic calculations
  • Outstanding verbal communication skills
  • Proficient with MS Office
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Access to controlled data or information and therefore only US persons will be considered (due to International Traffic in Arms Regulations - ITAR)

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate inventory control by following established work instructions and processes
  • Complete the cycle count process for Value Stream; Escalate variances in counts as needed
  • Perform root cause investigation on variances in cycle counts
  • Move materials to and from receiving, production areas and shipping by hand, using sorting bins and carts, or other equipment
  • Consult with others (i.e., supervisors, buyer planners, etc.) to rectify problems, such as damages, shortages, and nonconformance to specifications
  • Unpack, receive, and stock materials into storeroom location(s); Pack and ship materials in accordance with contract requirements
  • Read work orders to determine material and equipment needs for production cell work
  • Issue critical materials to production cells
  • Respond to unplanned issues with internal customers in a timely manner
  • Aid and/or Backfill coworkers, as needed to complete daily tasks
  • Change part stocking methods to better facilitate production needs
  • Ensure compliance with export compliance rules
  • Assist with training new employees and cross training other materials associates
  • Capable of supporting more than one value stream
  • Any other task assigned by supervisor or management
