About The Position

The Material Handler II is responsible for receiving, moving, storing, counting, tracking, issuing, and shipping a variety of production parts, materials, and supplies. The production floor relies on this position to provide the right parts and materials at the right time to meet on-time-delivery goals. Crane Aerospace & Electronics supplies critical systems and components to the aerospace and defense markets. Requirements

  • 3-6 years of relevant manufacturing experience
  • Previous experience working with manufacturing software tools
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods
  • Familiar with lean principles
  • Understanding of continuous improvement tools
  • Demonstrated outstanding manual dexterity
  • Demonstrated ability to concentrate on repetitive tasks
  • Demonstrated ability to accurately follow detailed work instructions
  • Demonstrated ability to understand standard work instructions
  • Demonstrated ability to solve routine problems
  • Math skills to perform basic calculations
  • Outstanding verbal communication skills
  • Proficient with MS Office
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • This position requires access to controlled data or information and therefore only US persons will be considered. As a US Department of Defense contractor we are bound by the International Traffic in Arms Regulations ( ITAR ).

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate inventory control by following established work instructions and processes.
  • Complete the cycle count process for Value Stream; Escalate variances in counts as needed
  • Perform root cause investigation on variances in cycle counts
  • Move materials to and from receiving, production areas and shipping by hand, using sorting bins and carts, or other equipment
  • Consult with others (i.e., supervisors, buyer planners, etc.) to rectify problems, such as damages, shortages, and nonconformance to specifications
  • Unpack, receive, and stock materials into storeroom location(s); Pack and ship materials in accordance with contract requirements
  • Read work orders to determine material and equipment needs for production cell work
  • Issue critical materials to production cells
  • Respond to unplanned issues with internal customers in a timely manner
  • Aid and/or Backfill coworkers, as needed to complete daily tasks
  • Change part stocking methods to better facilitate production needs
  • Ensure compliance with export compliance rules
  • Assist with training new employees and cross training other materials associates
  • Capable of supporting more than one value stream
  • Any other task assigned by supervisor or management
