About The Position

As part of the Thermo Fisher Scientific team, the Material Handler I plays a critical role in enabling our customers to make the world healthier, cleaner, and safer. This position is responsible for supporting warehouse and production operations through the safe, compliant, and efficient handling of materials in accordance with company policies, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1-3 years of experience in a warehouse, manufacturing, or logistics environment
  • Basic computer skills and ability to learn ERP/WMS systems
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a regulated environment (GMP, ISO, FDA, etc.)
  • Familiarity with AS400 or similar ERP systems
  • Forklift or powered industrial truck certification (or ability to obtain)
  • Understanding of inventory control practices (FIFO, FEFO)

Responsibilities

  • Accurately pick, pack, stage, and ship materials in alignment with customer requirements and internal procedures
  • Perform material movements (raw materials, components, finished goods) using manual methods or powered industrial equipment (as certified)
  • Execute transactions within ERP/WMS systems (AS400) with a high degree of accuracy
  • Ensure materials are properly labeled, stored, and handled in accordance with GMP, safety, and quality standards
  • Identify and escalate discrepancies, non-conformances, or inventory issues in a timely manner
  • Adhere to all Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) policies, including proper use of PPE
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and inspection-ready workspace in alignment with 5S principles
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Quality, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain teams to ensure operational efficiency
