Warehouse General Labor Material Handler
About The Position
The Material Handler I moves materials and products throughout a facility, including through manual sorting and placement. The role supports the safe and accurate flow of products through the facility. The position reports to a Supervisor and requires reliable attendance, adaptability to changing work assignments and schedules, and support for overall team operations. This is a physically demanding warehouse role involving repeated standing, walking, bending, stooping, and lifting or moving materials. Employees may encounter dust, fluctuating hot and cold temperatures, and moderate to high noise levels. Steel-toed boots and other required personal protective equipment must be worn.
Requirements
- Ability to repeatedly stand, walk, bend, and stoop throughout the workday.
- Ability to repeatedly lift and move materials, which may be heavy.
- Good manual dexterity and physical stamina for tasks such as minor repairs and manual drying.
- Ability to hear and understand verbal instructions and safety alarms in a warehouse environment.
- Adequate near, distance, color, and peripheral vision, as well as depth perception, to perform duties safely, identify pallet defects, operate tools, read labels, and recognize hazards.
- Ability to hear horns, alarms, machinery, and verbal instructions in a potentially noisy warehouse.
- Ability to use hands and fingers effectively to handle tools, fasteners, materials, and equipment with precision and control.
- Ability to consistently wear required personal protective equipment, including steel-toe shoes, safety glasses, and gloves.
Responsibilities
- Move materials and products through the facility.
- Ensure products or merchandise are moved safely.
- Review products or merchandise to ensure proper placement.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support and improve team operations.
- Adjust to new reporting relationships, work assignments, and schedules to meet company needs and business requirements.
- Maintain consistent and reliable attendance.
