About The Position

A Material Handler I – Receiving employee is responsible for receiving, inspecting, documenting, and moving incoming materials to ensure inventory accuracy and efficient warehouse operations. Shift times: Monday - Friday 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM Job Summary: The Material Handler I – Receiving is responsible for unloading, inspecting, verifying, and processing incoming shipments. This position ensures materials are received accurately, stored properly, and entered into the inventory system while maintaining a safe and organized work environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Basic computer and data entry skills.
  • Ability to read shipping documents and follow written instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Good communication and teamwork abilities.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous warehouse or receiving experience preferred but not required.
  • Forklift certification (or ability to obtain certification).
  • Experience with barcode scanners and warehouse management systems.
  • Basic inventory control knowledge.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement practices.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and unload incoming shipments using manual or powered material handling equipment.
  • Verify received materials against packing slips, purchase orders, and shipping documents.
  • Inspect incoming goods for damage, shortages, or discrepancies and report issues promptly.
  • Accurately record receipts in the warehouse management system (WMS) or ERP system.
  • Label, sort, and stage materials for storage or distribution.
  • Store inventory in designated warehouse locations following established procedures.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and assist with cycle counts and physical inventories.
  • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, and other warehouse equipment as authorized.
  • Keep receiving and storage areas clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards.
  • Follow all company policies, OSHA regulations, and safe material handling practices.
  • Communicate with purchasing, quality, and warehouse teams regarding receiving issues.
  • Perform other warehouse duties as assigned.
