About The Position

The Material Handler I is responsible for moving raw materials, supplies, and finished goods manually, by hand truck, or forklift to designated areas within the facility or onto trucks as directed by the Materials Supervisor. This role involves physically receiving raw materials, pulling wire samples, and ensuring proper documentation for purchase order receivers. The Material Handler will also deliver and retrieve materials, perform weighing and stocking of wire, verify product identification, prepare pallets, and load/unload trucks. Additionally, they will organize and maintain wire carriers, perform record keeping, data entry, maintain housekeeping, and adhere to all safety regulations and policies.

Requirements

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out basic written or oral instructions.
Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Basic computer skills required.
Forklift certification.
High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
One (1) year experience working in a fast-paced warehouse or manufacturing environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Regularly required to talk or hear.
Frequently required to stand and walk.
Occasionally required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and stoop or bend.
Must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required include color vision.

Responsibilities

Physically receiving raw material, pulling wire samples, and providing documentation to receiving clerk to create a purchase order receiver (POR).
Delivering and retrieving wire and equipment from the Heading floor and/or moving production parts to various operations.
Performing weighing of wire coils at headers, stocking and re-stocking of wire, ensuring accurate weight and/or piece count.
Verifying that all product and materials have accurate and appropriate identification tags, documentation, and/or paperwork.
Preparing pallets, loading and unloading raw material wire onto and off delivery trucks.
Organizing and maintaining all wire carriers, including palletizing to prepare for return to Suppliers.
Performing record keeping, data entry, and housekeeping.
Following all safety regulations and policy.
