About The Position

This is a full-time position for a Material Handler Forklift Operator in a recycling environment. The role involves the proper baling of materials and donated goods, and the safe and efficient operation of warehouse equipment such as manual hand jacks, electrical hand jacks, and forklifts. The position requires maintaining a professional and courteous attitude, flexibility to assume new job responsibilities, and a commitment to improvement and team building.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
  • At least 3 months of related warehouse experience
  • Active forklift operator’s certification or earned within 30 days of hire
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and short correspondence
  • Ability to write simple correspondence
  • Ability to communicate information orally
  • Ability to hear
  • Ability to perform basic math such as addition and subtraction
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram from
  • Knowledge and understanding to operate machinery and other warehouse equipment

Responsibilities

  • Loads and unloads materials onto or from pallets, bins or trucks
  • Properly bales materials and donated goods
  • Safe operation of warehouse equipment including balers, manual hand jacks, electrical hand jacks and forklifts; Responsible for maintenance and proper storage of equipment; Report and document accidents according to procedures
  • Stacks or assembles materials into bundles, bands bundles together using baling equipment
  • Opens containers and sorts material into categories
  • Attaches identifying tags or labels to materials or marks information on containers, bins or bales
  • Maintains a clean work environment responsible for daily cleaning duties such as sweeping, cleaning equipment with rags, cleaning outside trailer yard, lunch room, bathrooms and other common areas as assigned
