About The Position

Sofidel America of Phoenix is seeking a Material Handler/Forklift Operator for a long-term role in a stable environment. The purpose of this position is to perform Material Handling tasks within the plant to support machine production schedules, finished product shipping, and recycling/waste removal activities. This position works a 12-hour rotating shift schedule and continuously supports Sofidel’s Employee Personal Practice Policy. The role requires adherence to Sofidel America’s Good Manufacturing Practices, HACCP, and OSHA to promote a safe, sanitary, and hygienically sound workplace.

Requirements

  • Must possess a valid forklift certification.
  • Must have basic knowledge of mathematics and its applications.
  • Both verbal and written communication skills are a must.
  • Ability to work effectively, courteously, and respectfully with other employees.
  • Correctly perform daily forklift inspection at the start of your shift.
  • Proficient in MS Outlook, Excel, Word, and other computer systems.
  • Candidates must successfully pass a comprehensive background check and drug screening as a condition of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain forklift driving certificate for Single Forks, Double-Wide, Box-Clamp, and Roll-Clamp.
  • Conduct regular forklift inspections per the required instruction list.
  • Complete mandatory logs and documents.
  • Charge batteries and change propane cylinders.
  • Operate stretch wrap machine and understand the HU label process.
  • Monitor raw materials, finished goods, and waste products at all lines and deliver and remove them in a safe and timely manner.
  • Band parent rolls cores and puts them in the correct recycling or customer return trailers.
  • Service and support all Machine employee requests.
  • Operate balers for towels and broken tissue, cardboard, and poly.
  • Operate trash compactors for waste disposal.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by manually picking up waste paper and other materials.
  • Work the 12-hour rotating shift requirement.
  • Provide on-the-job training to new employees as needed.
  • Perform or assist with any operations, as required to maintain workflow and to meet schedules and quality requirements.
  • Notify supervision of unusual equipment or operating problems and the need for additional materials and supplies.
  • Maintain a safe work area and comply with safety procedures and equipment operating rules keeping the work area in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Participate in any variety of meetings and work groups to integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems, and maintain a specified level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, requirements, policies, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
