About The Position

The Material Handler - Equipment Operator may fulfill multiple roles in the Distribution Center environment to help fulfill the overall mission to process Inbound and/or Outbound freight accurately, timely, and safely. This role utilizes manual and/or powered industrial equipment to load and unload inventory, and to fulfill shipping and receiving orders. The position also involves completing periodic safety training on machinery operation and performing routine equipment inspections, notifying leadership of any maintenance needs. Potential work assignments include Receiving, Labeling, Putaway, Order Picking, Slotting, Replenishment, eComm order fulfillment, Hybrid throwing, Loading, and other specialty roles. Accurate documentation of production logs, including changes in assignments, downtime, and meetings, is essential for maintaining productivity records. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Requirements

  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to work independently and/or as part of a team
  • Basic math proficiency for certain roles
  • Good record-keeping skills with attention to details
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • 2-4 years of prior use of manual and/or powered industrial equipment
  • Basic warehouse and/or Distribution Center knowledge
  • Demonstrated success working in a production environment
  • Frequent lifting and carrying of product weighing 5 to 60 pounds
  • Frequent pushing or pulling of material and/or equipment
  • Frequent standing when working and when driving powered industrial equipment
  • Frequent walking, primarily in the warehouse
  • Regular reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling and twisting
  • Repetitive motion and substantial movement of the wrists, hands and/or fingers
  • Applicants in the U.S. must satisfy federal, state, and local legal requirements of the job.

  • Reach Truck or Order Picker Equipment Certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Utilizes manual and/or powered industrial equipment to load and unload inventory.
  • Utilizes material handling equipment (reach truck and/or order picker/cherry picker) to fulfill shipping and receiving orders.
  • Completes periodic safety training on the operation of machinery.
  • Performs routine inspections of equipment and notifies leader of maintenance needs.
  • May perform one or more of a variety of functions in a Distribution Center environment associated with fulfilling orders for retail stores and/or other Distribution Centers.
  • Documents production log appropriately to include changes in assignments, downtime, meetings, etc. to ensure productivity records are accurate.
