Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 1+ years of truck driving experience (26 ft vehicle or larger) or 1 year operating Johnstone equipment/vehicles under supervision; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience operating forklift and other warehouse equipment safely and competently.
  • Valid driver's license with a driving record indicating a safe driving history acceptable to the company.
  • Must remain eligible at all times to drive a commercial motor vehicle under applicable state and federal laws and FMCSA regulations.
  • Forklift certification required, or willingness to obtain on the job.
  • Ability to utilize necessary technology to complete tasks, GPS, mobile Proof of Delivery (POD) devices, RF equipment, and ERP software.
  • Ability to read a map and mapping applications accurately.
  • Ability to read, add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to work safely in all job tasks.
  • Skill in operation of delivery vehicles and power equipment, including forklift, pallet jack, and cherry picker; ability to operate a lift gate safely and effectively.
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull, and maneuver large/heavy products or pieces of equipment while working within established safety guidelines.
  • Ability to follow instructions and procedures.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work.
  • Ability to attend to details.
  • Ability to complete routine paperwork.
  • Ability to work with others in a team-based environment.
  • Strong customer service skills; ability to demonstrate considerable tact and diplomacy in dealing with others and to maintain relationships.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • English proficiency (written and spoken) is a core requirement.

Nice To Haves

  • 6+ months of experience in a warehouse and/or distribution facility, preferably in HVAC/R or related field.
  • Experience with a picker, RF scanner, and inventory management systems.
  • Knowledge of HVAC wholesale industry, principles, and practices.
  • Previous experience with OSHA and safety regulations and procedures.
  • Multilingual skills are valued.

Responsibilities

  • Receiving, filling, and shipping products accurately and efficiently.
  • Ensuring the safe transporting and timely arrival of products to customers and other store locations.
  • Performing warehouse job functions including receiving, order fulfillment, product picking, wrapping and packing, stock replenishment, customer will call, and inventory cycle counts.
  • Driving, route sequencing, order verification, loading and unloading orders into company/customer vehicles.
  • Handling return services and sharing customer feedback.
  • Performing maintenance, upkeep, and repairs of company vehicles and warehouse equipment.
  • Operating basic power equipment (e.g., electric pallet, walkie rider, sit-down forklift) safely and efficiently.
  • Stocking, filling bin boxes, facing cartons, checking for product mixing, and rotating product.
  • Monitoring stock on shelves or bins and replenishing stock from reserves.
  • Receiving product by unloading trucks using forklift, pallet jack, electric pallet jack, or by hand.
  • Inspecting freight for damage, verifying quantities, checking shipments against packing lists, and completing necessary paperwork for discrepancies.
  • Ensuring products have verified bar code labels and readable Johnstone stock numbers.
  • Picking and packing items into cartons, scanning items, and completing necessary paperwork.
  • Documenting the shipment of hazardous materials.
  • Preparing trucks for shipments, palletizing and wrapping orders, and loading trucks.
  • Maintaining current accuracy and efficiency standards and following standard operating procedures.
  • Participating in inventory cycle counts and other related projects.
  • Assisting in the maintenance and upkeep of all warehouse machinery and equipment.
  • Maintaining a safe work environment by working safely, following safety rules, and maintaining a clean work area.
  • Promptly reporting any safety or maintenance concerns to supervisors.
  • Wearing protective equipment according to company policies and procedures.
  • Accessing Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) as needed.
  • Maintaining required hazardous materials, forklift, and other certifications.
  • Maintaining professional communications with customers and coworkers.
  • Providing exceptional service, including accurate and timely delivery of products.
  • Serving as a key field contact for gathering customer service and delivery expectations.
  • Safely operating company vehicles and equipment consistent with DOT, state, federal, and company standards.
  • Maintaining cleanliness of the truck interior and assigned work areas.
  • Performing routine inspections and preventative maintenance on assigned vehicles/equipment.
  • Checking and verifying deliveries against sales and transfer orders.
  • Preparing routes and following schedules and deadlines.
  • Driving straight body vehicles, including box trucks, to deliver supplies and equipment.
  • Maintaining telephone or radio contact with supervisor for expedited delivery instructions.
  • Immediately communicating delivery, traffic, safety, and customer issues to their supervisor.
  • Recording sales and/or delivery information.
  • Completing manifest with pictures, signatures, and any returns.
  • Returning vehicles at the end of the day, verifying they are fueled, and completing associated paperwork.
  • Returning gas receipts, monies, vehicle inspection logs, and any other necessary paperwork.
  • Performing all other duties as assigned.
