About The Position

Performs all traditional warehouse duties including operating forklifts, shipping, receiving, restocking, picking orders, loading and unloading trucks, and general housekeeping. This role also serves as a backup driver, operating Class A, single axle or tandem axle day cabs with a capacity of 45,000 lbs., or box trucks for deliveries to customer locations. The position requires adherence to all safety policies, laws, and regulations, including maintaining a safe driving record and performing pre-trip inspections. When not driving, the individual will perform material handler duties such as receiving, verifying, and restocking materials, picking and palletizing orders, operating forklifts and WMS RF scanning devices, and maintaining a clean work area. Data entry and basic computer proficiency are also required.

Requirements

  • Eligible to complete certification and be licensed to operate forklift and regularly keep up to date with any changes in the requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Operates a sit down and stand-up forklift.
  • Handles shipping, receiving, restocking, picking orders, loading and unloading trucks.
  • Performs housekeeping duties in the warehouse.
  • Fills in as a backup driver during driver absences and/or for additional delivery routes.
  • Operates Class A, single axle or tandem axle day cabs with capacity of 45,000 lbs. or box trucks for deliveries.
  • Drives truck to destination providing accurate, timely and courteous service.
  • Collects signature for goods delivered.
  • Collects payment for goods delivered if required.
  • Maintains driver logbook or ELD device, trip reports, fuel tickets, toll tickets, vehicle condition reports.
  • Operates truck following all safety policies and laws, maintains a safe driving record.
  • Inspects truck equipment and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, and water.
  • Conducts pre-trip inspections per regulations/policy.
  • Operates slide side curtain trailers.
  • Secures load using runners, boards, ratchet straps, chains, binders around items to secure cargo during transit.
  • Ensures proper load stability and balance.
  • Assists in loading of trucks as needed.
  • Recommends optimal delivery route to assure quick delivery and timely service to customers.
  • Observes all company safety practices and procedures.
  • Presents professional image in appearance and behavior with customers, vendors, and co-workers.
  • Accurately verifies items and quantities during delivery.
  • Reports and documents all delivery variances.
  • Receives, verifies, and checks delivered material.
  • Restocks, picks orders, palletizes orders, and stages orders.
  • Operates sit down and standup forklifts, WMS RF scanning device.
  • Loads and unloads materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand.
  • Counts, weighs, and records number of units of materials moved or handled on daily production sheet.
  • Attaches identifying tags or labels to materials or marks information on cases, bales, or other containers.
  • Palletizes materials onto pallets and shrink wraps or bands material securely on pallet.
  • Lifts heavy objects by hand or with power hoist.
  • Cleans work area, machines, and equipment.
  • Operates sit down forklifts, standup electric lifts, moffets, pallet jacks, hand trucks, carts, to assist in loading or moving materials and products.
  • Ensures products are handled in accordance to established standards.
  • Loads, unloads, straightens, and organizes product and warehouse.
  • Controls and accounts for materials to minimize loss and damage.
  • Responsible for staging, transporting, shipping, or returning products into and out of the warehouse.
  • Performs data entry computer work.
  • Utilizes state of the art WMS radio frequency bar code scanning technology software and hardware.
