About The Position

This is a 1st shift position, Monday - Thursday 5am - 3:30pm with overtime as required. The Material Handler will place and retrieve product from designated areas using a forklift and other material handling equipment to meet production and customer needs. This may include receiving incoming materials and loading/unloading trucks. The role involves preparing materials for production by identifying, mixing, measuring, weighing, marking, labeling, counting, blending, tracking, calculating shot weight, recording, inspecting, verifying, packaging, and palletizing a wide variety of products. Additionally, the Material Handler will operate dryers at the correct temperature, utilize a moisture analyzer, maintain cleanliness of equipment, check equipment for proper operation, perform routine maintenance, and resolve unusual operating conditions. The employee will modify their work schedule and duties to accommodate company needs and perform other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • Read and understand work instructions.
  • Effective computer use.
  • Basic Math skills.
  • 6 months of fork truck experience.
  • Independent decision-making.
  • Effective self-management.
  • Manually lift and move product and materials up to 55 lbs. through regular physical exertion, including but not limited to reaching forward, reaching overhead, lifting, carrying, crouching, and bending.
  • Power grip and wrist turn, including the use of hand tools and/or steering fork truck.
  • Walk, sit, or stand for up to 10 hours with intermittent breaks.
  • Push/pull up to 100 lbs.
  • See, inspect, handle, and evaluate product quality.
  • Read and understand written English language work instructions.
  • Work in non-climate controlled environments, including hot and humid conditions.
  • Climb ladders and stairs of varying heights.
  • Wear task-based Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) provided by LSI: Protective Footwear, Hearing Protection, Protective Eyewear, Gloves, and additional PPE as required for specific tasks.

Nice To Haves

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 1-year forklift experience in a warehouse setting
  • Strong Computer and math skills

Responsibilities

  • Place and retrieve product from designated areas via forklift and other material handling equipment.
  • Receive incoming material/product and load/unload trucks.
  • Prepare materials for production by identifying needed materials and mixing them to job specifications.
  • Measure, weigh, mark, label, count, blend, track, calculate shot weight, record, inspect, verify, package, and palletize products or materials.
  • Operate dryers at the correct temperature to prepare raw materials and ensure correct moisture levels, utilizing the moisture analyzer.
  • Maintain cleanliness of material handling equipment to prevent material contamination.
  • Check forklift and other equipment periodically for proper operation and perform routine maintenance and cleaning.
  • Resolve unusual operating conditions.
  • Willingly modify work schedule and duties to accommodate Company needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
